There are tons attractions, restaurants, and shops to visit, so pick wisely. For a good starting point, on what to see when you're here, you should check out the official NYC tourism website: This is New York City. Below is a list of a few of the more popular things you might want to visit while you're in town. The SharkThe Shark is a boat ride that speeds along the Downtown coast of Manhattan. The Shark is easy to get to, as it's on the same pier as the International Yo-Yo Open (Pier 17, South Street Seaport). http://circlelinedowntown.com/shark.asp Statue of Liberty & Ellis IslandAnother fun activity we suggest is going to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Ellis Island was the landing point for many immigrants coming into the United States. Today, it has a museum that shows the long and tedious wait that immigrants had to endure to get into New York. The Statue of Liberty was a monument given to the United States by France as a symbol of friendship in 1886. Both places are accessible by ferry. The ferries are found in Battery Park and can be easily reached by taking the 4 or 5 subway lines to Bowling Green Station. http://www.statueofliberty.org/PlanningVisit.html New York City Bus TourIf you are new to New York City, try to take a bus tour of Manhattan. The tour takes you to popular and historical places in New York while the tour guide narrates and answers your questions. Note that New York City is best known for many of it's Downtown sites. The Grayline busses are found in downtown Manhattan at Bowling Green and can be easily accessible by taking the 4 or 5 Subway trains. http://www.grayline.com/Grayline/destinations/us/newyork.go?mode=activityDetail&apid=1368&sid=529 American Museum of Natural HistoryAlso check out the American Museum of Natural History, right off of Central Park!
