Hotels
If you need accommodations in New York City for the days surrounding the Contest, we recommend making your reservations as early as possible!

Subway
The best way to get around New York City is on the Subway. You can find out more information about the subway at the MTA NYC Transit website. This site has maps and schedule information.
If you want to map an address and see the nearest subway stations, you can also use Google Maps, onNYTurf, or HopStop.
Subway Fares
You must purchase a MetroCard to ride on the subway or bus. MetroCards are sold in the following varieties.
Unlimited 1-Day Fun Pass
Cost: $8.25
Good for unlimited subway and local bus rides from first use until 3 a.m. the following day. Sold at MetroCard Vending Machines and at neighborhood stores. Not available at station booths.
Unlimited 7-Day Pass
Cost: $27
Good for unlimited subway and local bus rides until midnight, 7 days from day of first use. Sold at MetroCard Vending Machines and at neighborhood stores. Not available at station booths.
Pay-per-ride MetroCards
Cost: $2.25 per ride
Buy as many rides as you want from $4 to $80.
Put $8 or more on your card and receive a 15 percent bonus. For example, a $20 purchase gives you $23 on your card. 10 trips for the price of 9, with $.50 balance. Refill your card to use the balance.
Taxis
Taxis are another convenient way to get around the city, espcially if you're with a group of people. Taxis will take up to 4 passengers.
Taxi Fares
Standard City Rate:
- $2.50 upon entry
- $0.40 for each additional unit
The unit fare is:

one-fifth of a mile, when the taxicab is traveling at 6 miles an hour or more; or
-
60 seconds when not in motion or traveling at less than 12 miles per hour.

The taximeter shall combine fractional measures of distance and time in accruing a unit of fare. Any combination of distance or time shall be computed by the taximeter in accordance with the National Bureau of Standards.

The fare shall include pre-assessment of the unit currently being accrued; the amount due may therefore include a full unit charge for a final, fractional unit.

Night surcharge of $.50 after 8:00 PM & before 6:00 AM

Peak hour Weekday Surcharge of $1.00 Monday - Friday after 4:00 PM & before 8:00 PM

Flat Fare from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport:
For trips between (to and from) Manhattan and JFK International Airport, the flat fare is $45.00 plus any tolls using Rate Code 2 on the meter. Surcharges will not be added.
