FHZ Bearing?
« on: July 21, 2011, 10:13:39 AM »

I've been throwing a sili-recessed FHZ lately while practicing my 5A and yesterday something went wrong with the bearing. Out of nowhere, the bearing became silent (It's a stock FHZ bearing, which is known to be a pretty loud bearing) and the yoyo didn't sleep for nearly as long as it did before. I took the yoyo apart and put it back together and nothing happened, I also didn't see anything wrong with the bearing . I don't know if the bearing was cleaned prior to me getting it, the yoyo is unresponsive though and it is silicone recessed. Should I clean the bearing and see what happens or did I kill the bearing altogether? I don't want to clean it and mess it up even worse. I also planned on taking the yoyo to Ohio States on Saturday, I hope I can get this figured out by then.

If the yoyo is still unresponsive then just keep playing with it. Sometimes the yoyo gets hair and other things in it too. If the shields are off then a cleaning and very light lubing may be in order.

The bearing it had when I sold it to you was a Spec. Not lubed. Maybe just go ahead and clean it and pin lube it. Possibly some silicone got on the spacers.

My teacher once asked, "If I have 3 bottles in this hand and 2 bottles in this hand, what do I have?" " I replied with, "A drinking problem?" Best reason to get sent to the principles office....ever

I'll clean and lube it and see what happens. I just assumed it was the stock bearing but it's good to know that it's a Spec bearing.

Edit: I cleaned and lubed the bearing and it works fine now. Thanks guys.
