Cleaning dm2 rims
« on: May 31, 2011, 08:43:21 AM »

So I just bought a dm2 super cheap but it's got a lot of dings and scratches on the rims. Is there any way to get rid of them? Now I'm seeing a lot of stuff about satining/anodizing and all that, is this the right way to go? Are there any other methods? I'm still new to the scene so any help at all will be much appreciated. Thanks for looking! =]

What you want to do is buy a set of many different wet/dry sandpapers and remove enough metal from the rim to take out the dings. Just be careful with your scratch pattern, you don't want something too course And I would suggest that you err on the side of not course enough and just put some elbow grease into it. Then you just move up through the grits as your scratches move closer together and then disappear leaving a fairly clean but not perfect finish. Then use Mothers Mag polish for that Acavando approved mirror sparkle. If you have any questions, he's the guy to consult.

Good luck!

This should be played at high volume, preferably in a residential area.
