"Insta-Gen" I have been working on this concept for a while, but I am not sure if it has been done before. at least not in 1A. the basic concept is to throw a breakaway. but before it reaches then end you pull HARD and make it come back at once. You then continue the motion into a "re-gen". the way I like to do it tho, is to throw it front style (reverse spin/ good for regen) over my freehand. and as soon as the yoyo has left my hand I pull my left hand away and do the regen. for this to be possible you have to 1. throw soft 2. pull only a SPLIT second after the yoyo has left your hand 3. pull hard 4. be able to do regular regens. in addition, and really raise the level, perform a Ryosuke "Fast laceration" as you do the regen. This is cool! so go practice it!

This is the same concept Mikhail uses in Ex3cute for his "recoil" trick. The difference is, he is putting his fingers on the side of the caps. I have messed around with the same idea you have and I have found that it works on all types of yoyos and all types of response set-ups...which IMO is really cool. I didn't take it to the level of regen, but I will now. -Bemis

That is a much better example of what I'm thinking about. Thanks Mags!
If that's what dubs is talking about or not...I can't wait to see a new video of his. =D

Well, the laceration bit sounds pretty new-ish at least. It sounds kind of like a combination of Augie's "trick throws", Ryo's throws straight to lacerations, and the stuff Mags mentioned... I was so heartbroken last year because I showed one like that to Mikhail before 1A freestyles, and then Mickey did the exact same one onstage within the hour. At least I had the consolation of knowing I was in good company!

If I'm understanding your explanation correctly, that's not new.
First time I saw it was Sebastian Brock. I also do looping regens which are basically the same thing, just repeating the motion to do looping tricks.

Yeah, that was one of the first weird concepts I figured out. I ditched it almost immediately, though, because my setup didn't really suit it very well. Lately I've been moving to slightly thinner gaps than usual, so I guess I might be able to dig that stuff back out. Thanks for reminding me.
