I've been skulking around various yo-yo forums for a while but never signed up on this one until today. Even after yo-yoing for a good while, I still have the occasional newbish question or moment of panic, so I hope you all are willing to bear with me . When taking apart my YoYoJam Dark Magic II a little while ago, I noticed that the half of the axle that normally remains fixed to the yo-yo had begun coming loose. I was under the impression that the fixed side of the axle was supposed to just stay there, unless your really tried to rotate it with a pair of pliers or something. I simply screwed it back in, but now I'm afraid that when I take apart my yo-yo the axle might come loose on both sides, which I feel shouldn't happen. I have never had this happen with any of my yo-yos (a Legacy and a Kickside before that). Is it bad at all that the axle has come loose on its own? Do I need to be so worried?

I'd rather be yoyoing

On my SFX that also has the solid spin axle system is the same and has been that way since I got it. I've had no problems yet. Smooth and stays together.

No and no. If it really bothers you, you can tighten the axle into one side of the yo-yo with an allen wrench/hexkey.

The DM2, like a lot of other yoyos, has a floating axle meaning that it can be unscrewed completely. I was surprised to find that out myself because the old Yoyojam axle system (which the DM2 does not have) used to have the axle stuck in there. But yeah there's nothing wrong with your DM so no worries, just be cautious when you open it up cuz it might fall out unexpectedly.

Even in the older style of YoYoJam axles the axle is still removable. It's just a setscrew sitting in between two threaded inserts. The only real difference is that the newer ones are a little bit looser.

Alright, thanks for all of your reassurance! I had forgotten that previous YoYoJams had a different axle system, I can see how having the axle set into a metal insert could cause it to come out a little more easily. I've had my Legacy fly apart on me in mid-trick while I was yo-yoing outdoors... my bearing rolled across a parking lot to God knows where. So now I'm hypersensitive to axle issues. Glad to hear that this is a feature, not a problem. Thanks again!
