Superstar problem
« on: February 23, 2011, 02:00:45 PM »

I don't really know where this goes but I am having a problem with my superstar. It seems like the bearing seat is fine on one side but on the other side my bearing doesn't sit right. The yoyo needs to be screwed together really hard to get it to go together and I was wondering if this is normal.

Most likely one side has thicker anodization.
I would remove the bearing and try rubbing down the problematic side with some denim.

If this doesn't make it better, then there is a problem.
Also, you shouldn't screw yoyo's very hard... Never force anything because aluminum is more delicate than the steel axle and bearing.

YYF makes tighter bearing seats to avoid any bearing vibe, if it were to be a source of vibe at all.

well I rubbed denim on it, but it is still a very tight fit. I'm going to rub more on it and see what happens. If it doesn't get fixed should I contact yoyofactory?

Nope, I put a 10 ball in it.

10-ball bearings have tighter fit than almost any other bearing.

This is the issue.

I had a terrapin in but it got messed up trying to take it off with vise grips and a towel. I just wanna make sure the 10 ball doesn't get messed up too.

Again, I think Terrapin bearings are tighter than most other bearings, if not worse than 10-ball bearings.
Just will the bearing out with pliers, if needed.

Try a looser bearing.
You'd better hope you didn't warp the bearing seat while removing your terrapin... you should be able to tell with vibe.

I rubbed it with a little more denim and put the 10 ball in the bearing seat and it's fine now. Thanks for the help everyone. Especially Ben for showing concern about the product, shows a lot about customer service.
