Thank you to those that have shown me some support. It is very much appreciated. As for this: other than the side effects thing there also isnt really anyway to tell if a 54 came from the mod fodder kit.
I can only speak for the 1 modder fodder 54 that I have come across... are you making a statement regarding the modder fodder yoyos? Or are you asking a question as to if there is another way to tell? The way I figured it out was by extensively using the yoyo. I initially received the yoyo, threw it a few times and noted that it was smooth. It was not until I sent the yoyo off to get blasted/anodized that I even took the yoyo apart. The only way to know there was a problem was two fold. First, take apart the yo and remove the SE. The first time I did this was the day I sent the yoyo off to get blasted. I remember noting at this time that the SE was a bit tough to remove... At this time I brushed it off and just thought it had gotten stuck a little. I thought no big deal. It was not until I had a chance to remove/replace the SE multiple times that I realized there was a problem. This didn't occur until after I got it back from ano and had a chance to play it. As soon as I found the problem I contacted One Drop to discuss (2/1). My apologies if this wasn't made clear in my main post. The second way to find out that this particular 54 is modder fodder is by appearance/design. The person that anodized this yo posted a picture of it on another website (posted 2/2). After seeing this picture, I also noted (and confirmed by looking at the yo) that there was a small difference in the shape of the 54. http://www.onedropyoyos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=56191#p56191It seems that I overlooked this detail upon my initial inspection. It looks more obvious with the yoyo having been anodized. Also, the other half has a 'standard appearance.' It's quite possible that I have a unique 54 half. The other modder fodders could very well have the same appearance as the standard 54. So, yes there is another way to tell (on mine). *Edit*: Also he's not psstt about getting a modder fodder 54. He's psstt because he wasn't told.
^^ Correct.

when you see RAW One Drops you better start asking questions. This isnt to the OP its more of a cautionary thing.
OD never sells raws, and if one does some how obtain a Raw OD its usually from a stop at OD.
Soooo if you see a Raw OD assume something is up somewhere and start asking questions!

One of a kind is not all that matters. I can draw a picture of a dog chasing a rat who is pissing on a cat... sure its one of a kind but no one will want it.

Thank you for posting this. I was hoping someone would step forward and address this issue. I do admit fault in not asking enough questions before purchasing. Posts like this are appreciated. I'd like to ask one final time to keep the other random posting to a minimum.

Stuff like this is fine: Granted (hope this doesnt count as random). I would like to maybe hear SPN's side of the story.
Your inquiry could lead to additional information regarding this situation (if read by super). That might help out. Stuff like this is unnecessary: i think if he had something to say he would have said it already
This doesn't add anything positive to this discussion.

Sorry you had this happen. That really sucks. I think there's really only one way to trade on here: full disclosure. Damage, number of owners, mod/alteration/repair history, any and all pertinent information.
If you bought a used car, wouldn't you want to know if it had been damaged and repaired? If there were any issues or problems with it? The general history of the car? Its common sense and common courtesy.

Dang, that really sucks. I feel for you, and read your post til the end. This situation recently happened to me (not as severe, but similar). The guy told me the yoyos were smooth and had a few anno flaws. The yoyo wans't smooth and they were dings not anno flaws. This past experience and this post has gotten me to be more cautious now.

jeers for not checking it over when you got it. no store will let you return something so long after you bought it.
super jeers to pokenerd. what the hey man. your better then that. perhaps cyc fixed it up and thats worth something. but if you didnt disclose this info in the original sale, thats like taking a bgrade 888, stripping it and selling it as a raw 08 888. thats low man.

My side of the story:
I originally purchased the 54 in question from Cyclontzy for $35. At the time, I was aware that it was from the Modder Fodder Support Kit issued by One Drop, but I was informed that the 54 had been fixed up to be smooth and playable so I saw this as an opportunity to get an excellent yoyo at a great price. Upon receiving the 54, I found that it was exactly as described; raw and smooth. I experienced no problems whatsoever with this yoyo while it was in my possession. This includes Side Effect usage. I had used aluminum spikes/domes and brass spikes/domes on the 54 while it was in my possession and the 54 performed wonderfully during play and removal of these Side Effects.
Some time after that, I purchased a 54 from OneDrop. Upon receiving that yoyo, I compared it to the one I had already purchased, and had been playing with for some time. To me, it seemed like the raw 54 I had played exactly on par with the production run 54; Side Effects and all. Eventually, I decided to sell the Raw 54 from the modder kit and here’s where the story begins:
When listing the 54, I did not indicate that it was from the Modder Fodder Support kit. However, I feel that it must be made known that I had absolutely no Malicious intentions in doing so. Had Throwgoon asked me if the 54 was from the modder kit, I assure you that I would have responded honestly. The reason that I did not indicate that the 54 was from the modder kit is because I was under the impression that the 54 had been fixed from any state of disrepair in which it was and was now up to the standard of a production run 54. In my view, the purpose of the modder kit was for modders to breathe new life into otherwise unplayable yoyos and I believe this is exactly the case here. In short, I listed the 54 as simply ‘a 54’ because that’s what it was to me. In retrospect I certainly realize and fully admit that this was a grave error on my part.
I completed the sale with Throwgoon, shipped him the yoyo, and I thought that all was done with. Obviously, this was not the case. Throwgoon contacted me last week and asked where I had gotten the 54 from and so I told him that I got it from Cyclontzy and he got it from the modder kit. Throwgoon explained to me that he was not happy that I sold him a modder fodder 54 and asked that I do something to remedy the situation. I refused to offer compensation, and here’s why:
It had been months since the transaction had finished. In my opinion, Throwgoon had more than enough time to inspect the yoyo and put it through its paces in order to make sure that he was happy with his purchase. Had he done so sooner after our transaction, I would have either refunded his purchase price for the return of the yoyo in its original condition or would have given a partial refund and let him keep the yoyo.
This was not the case, because it had been over two months since our transaction had taken place. Because of the large length of time, I did not feel obligated to offer compensation, and so I did not. If I do not feel an obligation to give anyone anything, I do not. Sure some of you may disagree with this philosophy, but to me it is the most rational way to go about business.
Throwgoon was unhappy with my decision, which is understandable, so he had his original positive feedback removed and left me negative feedback in its place. As a response, I had my original positive feedback for him deleted and replaced it with a neutral feedback. It turns out that I actually forgot to leave him feedback for the 54 transaction and had accidentally had feedback from another transaction I had done with Throwgoon removed. Rest assured, this mistake will be fixed. I will admit that this was somewhat retaliatory, and I would like to apologize for that action and make it clear that Throwgoon was nothing but professional in out dealings.
I do not feel as though I scammed Throwgoon. I will agree that my description of the 54 was negligent, and I still stand by my decision to not offer compensation, but I do not feel as though this constitutes a scam; I never intended for Throwgoon to end up with a yoyo with which he was unsatisfied.
I would also like to make everyone aware that this has been an isolated incident and in no way should it influence your decision on whether or not to trade with me. I have over 80 positive feedback that supports my reliability as a Buyer, Seller, and Trader. I do not wish to make light of the gravity of this situation, but I also do not want people to see me as someone to watch out for when trading on the forums.
I feel it necessary to reiterate a sentiment of Throwgoon’s: Please do not post in this thread unless you have read through all of the intelligible posts and would like to add something intelligible and relevant of your own.
I hope this sheds some light on where I stand with respect to this issue. I would prefer not to have to make another statement here, but I will do my best to address concerns anyone may have through PM.

wow, I guess the mods have to add a new rule to the list. this is an unscrupulous practice. I for one would just shell out the 70 bucks to save my rep.

I am with Dizzo.
No matter how you word it, you are in the wrong and should compensate him no matter how long it took him to figure it out.
Its basically saying im not telling if your not asking which is just totally sketchy. As someone mentioned a car dealer earlier, you know those shady lots that if you dont ask if its been in a accident they are not going to tell you.
You were not up front, and even now that you are, your still saying I got over on you and its to late.
Not a good practice.

^^^I agree completely. You can word it however you want but I think you were knowingly deceitful at the beginning of this transaction. If that's not it and it was just a "grave error", as you put it, then fix it. Plain and simple.

I just have to ask, if the 54 had the side effects working, with them being able to be removed and put back fine when SPN had it, do you think it could be from getting it blasted and ano'ed that it now has this problem? like, the SE hole is now tighter and cannot accommodate certain side effects anymore?

goon said he had the problem before he sent it in to be anoed, but he figured the SE were just jammed too tight and it was a one time thing.
