TBH that thing looks too much like a y factor...
I know there's the step and all but it just looks too similar.
And remember kids, this is why you shouldn't drink and post.

Hey!
He's right.
Idk, it's just me I just feel like every onedrop yoyo made so far has the flat/stepped/angled rim thing going.  Not to say they aren't good, it's just something I notcied.
Sovereign
tongue
Every aluminum onedrop yoyo.
I don't mean all of them, it's just very prominent in most designs.

^noticeable, not a deal breaker for anything I've ever thrown, just saying, .5grams is about the point where I notice a difference in weights.
I'd say that you both may be superheroes and don't realize it. That difference in tolerance is amazing. I don't think I would have any idea if a yo-yo was 66 or 66.5-67 grams.
The difference between a 65 gram yoyo and a 67 gram yoyo is the difference between my acrylic Ceephax and my Punchline, two COMPLETELY different feels even sitting at the bottom of the string. Admitted .5 grams is not at all a huge difference if you pic up a normal anodized yoyo, play it for a few hours and switch to it's Nickle plated counterpart I think you'd be able to tell the difference.

lolololol

People are still so set on the idea that weight, in numbers, is so important to a yoyo. Comparing two yoyos made of completely different materials, with completely different shapes, and completely different weight distribution, and then citing the difference in weight as the factor that makes them feel so different is just...just... I don't know. i don't even have a word for how much sense that doesn't make.

Weight has much less to do with the feel of yoyo than the average forum-goer likes to believe. The Battosai and Skywalker have the same exact weight, yet are complete opposites in play, just as Heath intended.  From what you're saying you'd think that every yoyo with the same weight feels exactly the same.

There is much mores to consider in how a yoyo feels/plays (heavy, fast, light, slow, floaty, etc..) than just the overall weight.

So it's looking like most of you are happy with this.  I'm thinking of having a sign off vote on the CAD part.

We can discuss finish and name later as they don't pertain to the CAD.

Thoughts?

tell me if this doesn't make sense, but is it possible to have vertical grooves intersecting the horizontal grooves?

it makes sense, but it's a flawed idea. it would not help anything, in fact, it would most likely hinder the entire process of making the yoyo.

I'm not sure what the function of that would be?

Also, on a standard lathe it wouldn't be possible to cut that.

Probably just for looks, but even then, I don't see how that'd look good.

I think it could look really cool, but it would also be something of a pain to make.

Yeah it would look cool.  Besides the difficulty in making it, you'd end up with the worst grinding yo-yo of all time Smiley
