Thanks to Jess Brisson, I was fortunate enough to get one of these babies in my hands yesterday. And I've got to say, I haven't been able to put it down since I took it out of the box. It's just so darned perfect. Seriously, I can't find one flaw with it. I'll break it down as to why I think it's so great. 1. It looks good. I've got the Gold Dust colorway, and it's just smashing. The tones of brown on top of a nice, smooth beadblast give it an earthy look, and it's just classy. Reminds me of a Starbucks drink, or perhaps of Godiva chocolate. The other available option, purple with blue splash, looks great too. The splashes on the Supras look different from splashes I've seen elsewhere. They look...cleaner, and more clear-cut. I really don't think you could go wrong with either color. The engravings and logo are fresh, too. Clean and simple. A nice improvement on the already not-too-shabby Pro logo, as they ditched the maple leaves as well as the semi-lame arrows. Good stuff. Also doesn't look super-wide and weird like the Pro does. 2. It feels right. Doesn't matter if you have big, monster hands or teeny-tiny baby hands, this yoyo will work for anyone. The V-profile has rounded edges so it doesn't punish you when it comes back to your hand like a Phenom does. The undersize shape lets you take it anywhere without bulging out awkwardly. The beadblast caresses your skin, it's smoothness rivaled only by that of baby butts. Doesn't feel awkward like the Pro does, either. 3. The weight/weight distribution is impeccable. SPYY nailed it with this one. It's not overly floaty like the Addiction, but has the heft that players look for. It has authority, and moves where you want it to go. It's not mad-heavy either, and is easily maneuverable. Can go slow and expressive (think Guy Wright), and can go quick and techy (think Takahiro Iizuka). Plenty of rim weight, as is obvious, and can spin for longer than you need it to. 4. The gap size/response setup. Great. It rocks YoYoFactory size silicone pads as stock, and they seem to bind pretty nicely. Easily replaceable too, since you can find YYF replacement pads anywhere, or just silicone it yourself. Nice, big gap as well. Not super-fat like the G&E4 or anyting, but up today's competition standards. No snagging or any loss of performance due to he gap, which is pretty much all you can ask for. C-size bearing, nothing to whine about. Plays better with a KK though, IMO. Binds tighter, and helps for horizontal style throwing. 5. It's DEAD SMOOTH. For any of you who've been following what I post here or at other forums, you know that I am picky as nunchuck when it comes to vibe. I can pick out the tiniest bit of vibe from any yoyo, and only a very select few have fulfilled my criteria for "dead smooth". That, for me, entails perfection both on grinds ("finger test") as well as on the string. And this yoyo does it. My Pro is perfect on the string, but on grinds I can feel a definite vibe, so SPYY's definitely going in the right direction. And it's not like the Punchline I described previously where it lost the perfection after I unscrewed it and had to painstakingly find the sweetspot again. This thing comes perfect and stays perfect no matter how many times you unscrew it. There's no wiggle room for the axle, so that eliminates axle centering as a tuning issue. 6. It grinds like no other. Perfect V-shape, lots of rim-weight, SPYY's beadblast, dead smoothness, what else could you ask for? Finger grinds better than any other yoyo I've used, ever. I mean it, it's that good. Sure, no IRG, but who actually does those anyway? And it can still thumb grind, you just need to tilt it a little bit, or even not at all if you're good enough. 7. It's stable. Doesn't tilt unless you want it to, even at low speeds. V-profile and lots of rim weight make the Supra ideal for horizontal tricks as well, as it doesn't move off of its axis easily. 8. It's cheap. Not super cheap, but it's lower end of the ballpark at $99.99. And compared to yoyos that play almost exactly like it (a testament to how good the Supra is, not by any means bringing other yoyos down), that's a good $50-80 cheaper. Yeah, I'm saying that this is on the same level of yoyorecreation. The Messiah has pretty much been deemed the best undersized yoyo ever. The Turning Point RT has also been given some rep, some saying that it is even on the same level as the Messiah. Having played both of these yoyos along with a Supra, this is the conclusion I've come up with. Supra>Messiah>RT I'm not sure how anyone can even compare an RT to a Messiah, to be honest. The RT doesn't even come close to rivaling the other two. After I played this for awhile, I picked up my Messiah and gave it a throw. They felt pretty much the exact same, except that the Supra was smoother, and the Messiah seemed to handle horizontal tricks better and bind tighter. I put them next to each other, and they seem to have pretty much the exact same dimensions as well. I then replaced the flat stock bearing in the Supra with a KK, and it was now able to handle horizontal tricks and bind as tight as the Messiah did. That's $99.99 + $14.99 (for the KK bearing) for a yoyo that beats the Messiah in every regard, as well as an extra flat bearing. Supra is smoother than the Messiah. It has a better grind finish. It's got acid wash and splash colorways that aren't obnoxious. It has easily replaceable pads. It's available practically everywhere. And as far as play goes excluding smoothness and grindability, it's basically the same thing as a Messiah. Messiahs are $150 at US retailers (usually), and I'm pretty sure they might be out of stock. That leaves overseas retailers the only places to get one, and they can be upwards of $180 at some stores. SPYY's really going in the right direction. Punchline, then Addiction v2, then Pro, and now Supra. Super high quality stuff at affordable prices at pretty much every retailer. It's really underhyped, and ought to be sold out everywhere. Seriously, go buy one, you have every reason to and no reason not to.

Pro's really great too, but really, the Supra is just so much better in every regard.

What ballpark do you play in? I think you're the first person to ever call a $100 yoyo cheap. I own many yos in the same size category as the Supra... at least 5 of which are dead smooth... and none of those 5 cost me more than $95.

I was figuring most metals are priced at around $120. It's on the lower end for SPYY pricing too.
And what are the yoyos you're claiming as "dead smooth"?

I got ninja'd, but here is what I was going to post: The point I was trying to make is that, yes, they are cheap... when you compare them to some of the most expensive aluminum yoyos on the market. By Sunny's logic, the General-Yo Magnum should then be considered cheap, no? It costs significantly less than the Duncan MG. I don't think many people would regard a $300 yoyo as cheap though... Just thought I'd add some of my thoughts to this review... not trying to be rude.

Okay, not cheap. Not super expensive, though...I'm not entirely sure as to where you came up with the Magnum analogy. The point I was trying to get across is that you get a yoyo that plays as well (and even better) than the yoyos reputed to be the best yoyos out there, for far less.
Here's how I group metals: -Cheap Metals (Fundametals, usually $50-75 -Average metals, usually $80-125 -High-end Metals, think YYR -Luxurious Metals, including FHMG, Magnum, C22, Aurora, Tirade, Sovereign, etc.
I think that if you can afford a yoyo from any of the above groups, then you're likely to consider yoyos from that whole range.

Well, I'm certainly not saying that yyf is lacking in performance, its just how I tend to (an I'm sure that others do too) group yoyos, based on their price. To be honest, I think that yyf has pretty much set the average retail price of typical metals. Japanese people just don't conform with those guidelines. Most of my yyfs have performed incredibly well
Heres a more succint answer: I was categorizing by price, not play.
Yeah, forgot about 5a. I play it, though, mainly with a genesis or protostar.
