 As everyone knows (or will now know), Vs. Newton YoYo Concepts (VsNYYC) has always been about giving back to the community. After lots of thinking time I am attempting to take this to a whole new level by not only giving back to you guys, but also helping a cause that i personally think everyone wants to help out with. I just dont think i can do this one alone

I'm talking about cancer research

Nearly everyone in my immediate and distant circle of friends has either lost a loved one to cancer or has had to endure the hardships of watching helplessly as their loved ones fight for their lives. I am fortunate enough to have not lost a loved one to cancer, but breast cancer does run rampant throughout my genetic code it seems (2 aunts and my grandmother have all fought it and won), and i know many of you fall into this same category. I have no real idea of what these people have been through. most of us don't even know what it really is to fight for our lives. (an exception to this is of course, a good personal friend of mine and VsNYYC team member Hunter Durfee, who has not only beaten cancer once, but twice!). Just because we cant feel their pain doesn't mean that we cant help in the fight

Without making this sound any more cliche or corny (even though I really wasn't trying to mud this up and sincerely mean every word I'm typing), here's what I plan to do. I'm no super hero. I'm really not even much more than a guy that gets really passionate about what he holds dear to him. In a match against cancer I can do very little on my own. What i can do is attempt to rally up as many yoyo makers and throwers as possible for a chance to make a difference. What i can do is put "The Works" to work.

i have received contributions from various community members and makers and got them each anodized one of one "the works" colorway. all you have to do is buy them

Every company or community member that sells or donates a yoyo will get full recognition for their generosity on both this forum and on the letter included with the donation check to the NCI. This entire process will be photographed from the first raw yoyo arriving to the check being hand delivered to the NCI. Again, no one is being asked to give me anything.

If we can make a phone that surfs the internet as fast as a cable modem, we can cure cancer.

I'm assuming that some are now asking "that's it? your going to auction off yoyos to fight cancer? couldn't you do more if you really care that much?". The answer is simple. One must test the waters before diving into something of this nature. I intend this to be the new VsNYYC and new yoyo community, but without starting out walking, I'm liable to fall. I know lots of you doubted me when i started VsNYYC, but through all but hell it seemed I made it happen. I have acknowledged that I cannot do this alone. All I can do is get the ball rolling.

This is happening, even if I'm the only one to do it.

This is a great idea, Heath! I can't say that i have any immediate family members that have dealt with cancer, but I'm all for this cause, and you can bet i'll be bidding for one of the yoyos!    Even if it's just to give the cash.

This is a great idea. I have raised awareness before for the same cause except it was for helping find bone marrow donors for leukemia patients who can only survive if they find a matching donor before time runs out. I have posted flyers and even used my drawing skills to raise awareness for some individuals fighting leukemia just to get the word out. The thing about registering to donate bone marrow is you aren't just doing it for 1 person but for all of them because you never know if and who you will be a match for.

This is a fantastic! Not only will this help cancer research buti think of what it will do for the yoyo community! I believe this will open alot of peoples eyes to the yoyo community and get more and more people involved! I can wait to see how this turns out heath

I'm sure every sponsored player feels this way, but I doubt for anyone else it's truer. I have the best expletive yoyo sponsor on the planet.

I'll be spreading the word to any yoyoers I know that aren't too well connected to the forum communities, because they still buy their yoyos online, for the most part.

I have not felt the need to share this with you guys, never really came up in conversation, but I lost my mother to Cancer in 1986 when I was 6 years old.  I have also had a couple scares and frightining tests becaue the form of Lymphoma that took my Mom is hereditary.  She died at 32, she started feeling sick at 31, I just turned 31.  It is a scary thought process to slip down and has kept me awake at night more than once.

Cancer has touched my life in a very personel level.  We CAN do more, and this is a good way to start.

This is a fantastic idea. I don't know if you are up for expanding it but it seems that if you had some sort of "The Works" logo or something that could be put on sidecaps you could include donations from modders. When I read your initial post I immediately looked around at what I might be able to throw onto the auction block, but sadly the only thing I have readily available are modded plastic yo-yoes. Anyway, I wanted to throw that out there. Good luck.

This sounds like an awesome idea. Definately a good deed on the part of heath. I too have lost a grandparent to cancer and seeing someone so true and giving is a sight. Id personally like to thank heath and on the part of everyone who has lost anyone to cancer. You truely are a genuine guy and i would love to support this is anyway i can. So the donations have to be raw? What if we strip the yoyo?

Not to be a downer here and yes ive lost people to cancer. You guys probably wont agree with this but through the research ive done on cancer CURES and treatments my opinon is as follows.

As long as the FDA and pharmacuetical companies exist in this country there will NEVER EVER be a cure for cancer. They cure cancer in other countries as we speak ...do some research. The FDA, Pharmcuetical Companies and Powers at be that controll this country will not allow for a cure because there is NO money in a cure, the money is in the "TREATMENT" of a disease not the cure. If there was a well publicized cure for Cancer there would be BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS of dollars of revenue lost that are generated by cancer treatment drugs... Most literature and information about CURES for cancer are suppressed.As evil as this sounds it is the truth.

I could talk about this for hours but i wont.

Heath your Intent and Ideals are Honorable. but i fear you would just be contributing your money to a machine that is not set up to find a cure. cures already exist but the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) will not appove any of them or admit that cures are out there.
