The yoyo is real...and the halves are straight, not warped.

If it's soft enough to warp at high velocities when it's spinning, it must also be soft enough for me to squeeze out of shape, thus making the entire notion beyond impractical.

thats AMAZING!!!! does it have all of the other GREAT features of other yoyos that wobble like washing machines due to poor machining, metal warping, or just generally bad ideas? seriously, even if this concept isnt a total and complete lie, why in the hell would i want a yoyo that distorts/ruins itself? never once in the video was the yoyo shown in normal shape. it also didnt even change shape beyond the distorted form it was already in pre video. lastly, NO tricks, binding or even throwing was presented in this video lastly, the Mercury is already a yoyo made by Bandai/Hyper yo-yo id say good try, but i really dont know if its merited one Awesome cameras not included.

Mercury is highly toxic so I hope this is a joke. You have to be pretty ignorant to let mercury touch your skin.

K, I know for a fact you can press magnesium out of shape with your fingers, making it worthless as yoyo material. You'd have to make it incredibly dense to get it to keep the body from warping. Not to mention that Magnesium is extremely reacitve and you'd need to pasivate it pretty heavily to make sure that it wouldn't burn. Also this: Mercury is highly toxic so I hope this is a joke. You have to be pretty ignorant to let mercury touch your skin.

You do now that no one in there right mind would machine pure magnesium you probably can't even buy it in rods. What they use are alloys with other metals combined with magnesium to heighten then strength yet keep the relatively low density.

K I was wrong I asked my mother (and before you scoff at me like I'm a child, which I'm not, she's a Professor of Geophysics), Magnesium is quite hard, but this doesn't change the fact that it's extremely reactive and requires a fairly expensive pasivation process (or nickel plating in the case of the Magnum). Hence the $450 and $300 yoyos you put up as examples. Further making the cost-effective point is the fact that they made how many Magnums? Wasn't it like less than 30? You do now that no one in there right mind would machine pure magnesium you probably can't even buy it in rods. What they use are alloys with other metals combined with magnesium to heighten then strength yet keep the relatively low density.
This. However, Mercury is extremely dangerous, and I would think it highly unlikely that combining Mercury and Magnesium would make a safe CHILD'S TOY. They took that stuff out of thermometers because it's so dangerous, you really think it's a good idea to be playing around with it with your bare hands?

Its a joke, calm down.
Need prrof that the footage is doctored? Look at the string at the 17 second mark as the yo-yo slows down and reverses direction. The vibration of the stinrg slows down, stops but says warped, then reverses. It is clever, and funny, but a joke none the less.
Come on people, a yo-yo with mercury as part of the composition?
Now, the regular shaped one in the still looks kinda cool. I would like to know more about that.
