Man, its freaking to see your competitive play for yoyo freestyles evolve into something like this. I know how hard you have worked at it
and you made that look way too simple.
how many clicks was that!?

Thanks a ton Zamm, I have worked very hard lately making this freestyle. I don't have any idea what the clicks are honestly.

Watching it makes me want to just quit, thats an honest statement man. Seriously this freestyle was that good. It had the swiftness, speed, string hits, creativity.
I did find at least one bit of critism.
You also need to focus not just on the mid level but on the high level and low level. Low level meaning of kneeling on the ground to do grond tricks.

Thanks a ton guy! Means alot. Zam, thanks for the advice. I dunno if I'm going to conform to what everyone else is doing by doing all of the kneeling and stuff like that though just yet. May wait a while.

Your weakness is the fumbles and yoyo changes.. those add up fast. -1 for every loss of control, -2 for a rewind, -3 for a change...

so what happens is this (it's a common problem)

You mess up and fumble a couple times (-2), try to rewind (-2), change yoyos (-3) now you've lost 7 points in a matter of seconds. You need to pay attention to your mistakes and instantly recognize the best way out without having to try different things. A yo-yo change is a double hit for you since you not only lose points, but you lose the extra time it takes as well. A few instances like this and you can find yourself dropping from 1st to 2nd or worse.

The end of the routine is where mistakes really dragged you down a bit. Running a clean freestyle is often just as important as the tricks you do.. when you miss/rewind/change you not only lose points, but you lose time where you could have been adding them.

Anyway, pretty good freestyle.

Thanks a lot Kyle. I'll try to keep that in mind at worlds, and from now on really.

I second everything Kyle said, and would further add that next time you would do well to choose a song other than the one the reigning national champion used for the freestyle that won him the title.

My personal rule is to never use a song if I'm aware that someone else has used it; also, so far, I've never used the same song twice. But I can totally understand how that could be a little restrictive to some.

Elephark, the version of the song that I used is slightly different to Yuuki's song. But I know where you're coming from. It's just the best song I could find that fit this freestyle. I don't plan on using it again.

I'm pretty sure i already told you this at the contest when you asked for criticism the only thing you need to do is clean it up even more than what kyle mentioned about mistakes, but i would say to really get the best score you can is also to polish out some of the unsmooth bumps, judges some times give extra points just for landing a trick really cleanly not just landing it.  you are really smooth but a couple spots in there you had to briefly stop to continue the rest of trick i am not sure if to do the trick that is actually necessary if it is you might consider slightly altering the trick so the troublesome spot can be gone through cleanly.  this is a bit more nit picky but to win a serious contest it is kind of important.  naturally just getting rid of mistakes is the big stepping stone to work on and is the most important thing.

both this freestyle and your 5a freestyle had the same small problems.  both were great freestyles that could be improved by being a perfectionist.

you have great potential to compete at nationals and worlds,  i don't think you'll win in the next couple years but you stand a good chance of being a finalist this year which is really impressive in its own right and being in the top few in a following year.  i look forward to seeing you at more contests Afro
