« on: July 14, 2010, 01:54:24 PM »

So recently someone asked me if i could make tutorials for some good 5a elements.  I said yes and this is what i came up with.
Their not that great but i hope they can help some of you out.

Freegen's a bit useless, aerials are much better (you throw it up from a throw and you catch it), but the wrist mount stuff is priceless.  Someones been watching some JonRob.
Although I've got no experience in making tuts, I'd lay out a plan before I go in.  We want to see what you know.  Not "you can do this, but I haven't found anything cool here."
Anyways, thanks for the ideas on the wrist mount stuff.  I was never good at that.  I'm more around the electric fan tricks, which are also really important, along with stalls and beestings.  You might want to make tuts for those tricks if you plan on doing more.

Reverse freegens (frontstyle) are more difficult but quite doable. You just have to throw the counterweight the other way.

Oh dear...it seems your 5A privileges have been revoked.

Yeah i just thought i would show that so people could see if they could find something.

I did make a tut for stalls.  It's at the top but the embedding was disabled.

Oh I missed the stall and bounce ones.
What do you mean Elephark...?  I'm not talking about basic Electric Fans (braintwister), I'm talking about combos that incorporate stalls, bounces, beestings, tanglers, etc etc etc.

What do you mean Elephark...?
Every time you do an electric fan, Yuuki kills a kitten. Please, think of the kittens.

I see Freegen and aerials as much different. I guess the Freegen is a type of aerial because, well, it goes in the air, but it is acting as a 5A regeneration. An aerial as you say from a throw and then catch doesn't regen from a bind. I think both are good, but they just have different uses. Correct me if I am wrong....

I don't consider Freegen a regeneration because you can't do it with a dead yoyo.  I think the point of a regeneration is to start a dead yoyo so you can bind it and catch it.
Unless you count these as regenerations.  He starts doing them at around 1:00.

...you can't do [freegens] with a dead yoyo.
O RLY?

I think the point of a regeneration is to start a dead yoyo so you can bind it and catch it.
The point of a regeneration is to regenerate the spin of an already spinning yoyo. If it starts out dead, it's called a restart. You can, however, do a regeneration immediately thereafter rather than catch it and rethrow it.

Any of these links will solve your problem, which is caused by your computer not supporting h.264:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
http://www.videolan.org/
http://www.mediacodec.org/

I recommend getting QuickTime, because you can go frame by frame using the arrow keys or your mouse's scroll wheel. For a lot of the tricks I film, it helps a lot to see them in slow motion—especially the freegens.
