Modfather's "Big Money" Freehand
« on: June 29, 2010, 08:31:01 PM »

So, I'm sitting at my lathe looking around for ideas today, and this is what I came up with.

A large bearing "Old School" (NOT 2010 model) Freehand, just sitting there in the package taking up space.

I then realized I got some BC large bearing SPR kits from Paul Yath.

Upon further hunting, I found some really cool pogs!

This thing plays like a dream!

The result......

This binds fine....gap isn't that much wider, if any. I'll measure it though.

OK...I checked it out with a micrometer...this is what I came up with:

the gap difference is 0.080" (eighty thousandths of an inch) Not much really

It binds fine.....not loose or anything like that.

It plays like a dream.....very stable.

Bottom line...this thing looks great, and plays even better!

That's, what, just over two millimeters...? Not trying to call you out or anything, but that is quite a difference when it comes to the gap. Especially when that difference brings it above 5mm.

Gotta cut deeper, those binds are gonna be looser than megan fox.

Oh, no doubt it plays great, lol. A bad Freehand 2 is like bad pizza, doesn't really exist. It's still gonna' get eaten. I'm just a sucker for small gaps.
