Since they warned me "this thread is old" on another bearing thread I figured I would start a new one. I have been cleaning w mineral spirits, sometime let dry, other time blow out with air, then using thin lube- however I can hear the bearing has a dry sound- even lubed. I added a super small drop of another oil, not sure what kind and it made the bearing silent , however it gave it response when I do a whip. So I cleaned it again and lubed it w thin lube. I test all of my bearings on a pencil- spin it and count one one thousand, two one thousand etc. and am able to get to 4 + when clean, however I would like to get it silent when playing. What about a super small amount of thick and two or 3 drops of thin, then blow it out? ( I have no thick lube currently) Any suggestion are appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Sorry for the lack of response, most people hardly visit this part of the board.
Basically if you want it unresponsive and quiet, you are going to have to break in the bearing. At least that is what I am told. I have never played or have been able to get a quiet yoyo to be unresponsive. I have even broken in a bearing using a dremel lubed with grease until it got too hot to hold with a gloved hand, and it was still responsive with lube. I play all of my bearings cleaned and dried using an air compressor. I haven't had an issue with any of them, except they are a little loud.
