I signed up just to post this, and hopefully I'll get sucked into the craze.

So, I was researching yoyo's lately (yoyonation, yoyoguy, etc) and don't have much money to spend (i'd like a dv888 or g5). So i decided on going to toys'r'us and they had a bunch of these freehands there.  I own a playmaxx cold fusion, bunch of playmaxx bees, an tom kuhn sb2, yomega rb2, raider, terminator technic, custom mag avenger, tk 3in1nojive, and I havn't yoyo'd in over 10 years since I was in highschool. It was a little simpler back then, people were just getting into string tricks, and I remember being in tallahasee (i lived in niceville florida) at infinite illusions while they were showing off this new cherry bomb yoyo and da bombs which i bought a few (can't find). Anyways, I was dissapointed when I was at toys r us on april 10th (before 4-21-10 release of these duncans) because I thought I had to get an old freehand. But after getting it home, things didn't quite add up right and it wasn't the same as the one's ive been seeing online.

So now this post comes out and I read it and NOW I KNOW why, somehow I got one of these new yoyo's before they were supposed to come out. I still suck at yoyoing, I've learned to bind, tho still can't get it every time, I can do split the atom, brain twister, flag, eiffel tower, triple or nothing, and hopefully I can figure out all these crazy combinations with mount and dismounts that was rather difficult on my cold fusion with cork break pads.

Also, I've been experimenting with making my own yoyo string, I've devised an awesome way to make it fast, and easy without a drill. I've made a 'drop spindle' out of a yoyo-half and a wooden dowel and paper clips as hooks, and this is the best quickest way ive researched to make strings (poly, cotton, dyneema are what ive tried with interesting success), as I'm a pretty good rope maker.

Also, I noticed the cd with the freehand yoyo was a mini dvd, and most people use laptops, and front loading drives now, even the yomega yoyo had a full size dvd. I can't even play this thing on my ps3 or macbook pro, so lame.   (I know it doesn't matter but it's the principle) And mine came with a monkey head and not red dice.

I know I've written way too much, but I just had to actually register and post and add to the discussion.

I am really excited to try out these new FH2's. The FH2 (classic with the rings) are one of my favorite Duncans to date. I'm going to have to see if my local toys r us has any or not. Only about 4 minutes away or so, definitely worth the trip if they have them.

You didn't miss much. The CD has almost the exact same information/tricks/clips as the discs that came with the old CDs.

Brandon, this is probably a long-shot, but I know that the Big-5 in my town used to carry the old Freehand 2s. Would you happen to know if they are stocking Duncan again? I would love to get my hands on one of these new ones.

Ah yeah, I've seen them before. I was just commenting that he was putting it in his slot loading MacBook.  Slot load drives aren't made for smaller discs such as the ones that come with Duncan products.

Hey guys I just got my freehand 2 from toys r us and i love it but i want to know how do you make it unresponsive?

Wash the bearing in a container of mineral spirits then blow it out of the bearing w/ compressed air.

clean the bearing with either lighter fuel or paint thinner, then just let it dry. Also change the pad to silicon pad on one side and nothing else on the other to make it totally unresponsive

The discs that come with current Duncan products are CD-ROMs not DVDs. The disc that is included with the new freehand is actually different from our others we have included with products. This disc has ALL play styles on one disc. So essentially, it is ALL the Duncan CD-ROMs on one disc. Also worth noting, is mini-DVDs DO work in slot loading ps3's. Just wondering if this is an international release? Do us Canadians get any Duncan love?

Yes. Any Canadian retailers that sell Freehand's will automatically get the new ones when they restock.

ended up going to toys r us today. they had all the colors except the solid looking green one. i got every color except white bc i already got a white one on yyn. was supposed to get a "lime green" too which i assume is the one im missing but they sent a dark green translucent non-recessed one and my invoice/packaging was long gone before i realized their mistake. oh well. just cleaned the bearings and took off one pad, they play fantastic. i will switch the 1 pad to a silicone pad later but theyre completely unresponsive already. cant imagine anything better for $14 and a couple minutes of time to clean the bearing.

also, whats the difference between the 2 sets of spacers these fh2s come with?

So after playing with my new FH2 for a week, I'm hooked.  great weight, balance and shape.  On mine, I took out the stock pads and put in Dif thin pads.  (thanks to Ryan at YYN for the recommendation) and I put in a nice clean broken-in KK bearing.  (yes, I'm a Dif fan) but any cleaned bearing would probably be fine.  Plays dead unresponsive now, with nice binds and long spins.

Silver Spacers are thinner. Stick to the gold/bronze ones.

Is the recess deep enough to hold silicone?

Haven't tried yet. I replaced the friction stickers with Kentaro pads. That made it more unresponsive.
