A standard yoyojam bearing, cleaned with a drop of thin lube will last you years.... there's no need to bicker over bearing placebos that really offer no improvement, the standard bearing will do everyone perfectly fine.
I don't see anyone bickering over bearings. I see an exchange of ideas and opinions on said topic, which is what forums are for. As for YYJ bearings, I'm glad that you are pleased with them and that there's no need for you to look further, however many people disagree with your conclusion. Some people are sensitive to subtleties while others see no distinction between minute characteristics of different bearings.

I would completely agree that the One Drop 10 ball bearing is the best C bearing that is out there. In my opinion, it even plays better than a $30 ceramic bearing. I only wish that One Drop made other sized bearings. I would love to have an A and a D bearing that One Drop made for my Big Brother Yoyos. I have a One Drop 10 ball bearing in my Big Brother Bully already.

I have tried every bearing mentioned other than the terrapin x bearings, and I have to say that the 10 ball is by far the best bearing in my opinion, with the kk following in a close second.

AIGR bearings are absurdly quiet, sleep like crazy and require damn near no maintenance. The remind me of C-sized EZO bearings. 10 balls get really noisy after a while and that annoys me. They're fine bearings, I use them in several yoyos, but AIGR bearings are king. A bearing that I don't have to play with for ten or so minutes to get the quiet/smooth-spinning, yet unresponsive sweet spot with the right amount of lube and compressed air blasting is a big deal for me.

our next releases will be using 10 ball bearings treated with Terrapin's polymer coating, so expect super special awesome from them. I've found that they are dead silent when treated and lubed.
sorry if this is a bit of a necro.

Well the 10 Ball will have then at least 3 varieties
Original (lubed) Cleaned, ie what shipped with my Y Factor this month. Finger flick more than 25 seconds spin time and is quiet. Terrapin coated. What I read about the Terrapin bearings is they spin great but are very loud until you lube them.

I'm a big fan of your bearings, John. But, I wonder...how long will the polymer coating last? Just curious. Thanks, Glenn Godsey

To sum it up: Hi Glen, Thanks for your recent purchase. I will ship it tomorrow along with a Terrapin X CHROME. As you have purchased many ceramics from me I thought you may want to try one. As to how long does the treatment last, I have only been doing it for about a year now, no problems yet. You have some of the first so let me know. Thanks
As far as them being loud, well you can hear them. but they are not loud. I guess its relative. They are competition bearings, kinda like mom's soccer van vs. a formula 1. Liquid lubricant may muffle sound but the drag coefficient is exponential with speed. 8,000 to 2.000 rpms is where 1 A works, try to keep it there for over 2 min. with a bearing that requires oil.
The Terrapin treatment has been done to every bearing used by every yoyo company there is and none have come close in performance to the bearings from string theory. As they could tell you I was apprehensive at first to work with any bearings other then the ones I use. Sometimes it's nice ti be mistaken.
