skill toy school :)
« on: March 18, 2010, 11:43:51 PM »

Just out of my curiousity.
Is it possible to build a'school'(learning center to a lil bit precise) for skill toys, such as yoyos, spin tops, diabolo, boomerang, rubik, kandama, pen spinning, etc?
If it is possible, what kind of skill toys shoul be teached and what kind of curricullum shoul we develop Smiley
Target students are children beetween 6 to 15 yo.
And the target of the lessons is not to make them world champions but for them to play and develop their fine and gross motor skill and hand eye coordination as well persistence and patiencem

Personally I think it's an ?? idea since teeanger play to many video games and stuff (not to say they are bad but we got to move around sometimes)

Well what do u think?

Its a good idea in theory but, it would probably be a very ineffective business model, just from a monetary standpoint, because at this current minute there's enough kids who want to play with skill toys (even in a place like San Francisco where I live and people are pretty "nerdy") so there wouldn't really be even enough money to provide for a premises.  But another yo-yo boom seem to be just over the horizon, and if that happens then this idea becomes much more feasible.

I really wish I could think of something amazingly witty to write here... oh well, I guess this  will have to do.

The best thing you could do would be starting one at a comunity center you can have beginer and advanced in one class, but the teacher would have to be pretty advanced.

My idea would be to open a YOJO where you can master the art of the yo-yoing. As you advance you can change your string color that you play with and some day become a master yoer. You could teach 1A-5A, only I would change the names so they would be super cool like Dragon technique, monkey fists, dualing dragons, shooting star and 5A would just be 5A just because. .  How cool would that be. You could battle other YOJOs. This is a great idea all I need in about 15,000 dollars to start. I'll start my own franchise, who's in?

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
