Ever scratched or damaged a new yoyo?
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:23:29 PM »

As the title says... how many of us have scunged or damaged a new yoyo?

i tend to play out the back on the concrete... and i have now put a scunge in my x-convict and my skyline. Skyline was very minor but the x-convict had to be sanded...

didnt throw into the ground... both times were as i was coming out of a trick and let my hand go a bit low...

i'm not sure what a 'scunge' is, but i definitely don't feel as though they're 'really mine' until i've slammed em a few times. pretty much all my good yo-yo's have been k'powed.

"Scunged" is the new "dinged"?

But yeah, I don't mind when my yoyos have different marks on them. I have dinged many of my yoyos, sometimes even on purpose.

Oh okay... I scunge my yoyos all the time. I dont mind at all. As long as I'm fine with the fact that I will never be able to get rid of it.

I'm still fooled into thinking a perfectly new yo-yo is something to take care of, and something to avoid doing crazy things that may end up causing damage to it.

But when I put the first good scrape I put on my yo-yos by accident, I make sure to intentionally make another mark just as big.  It is then a plaything instead of an object that I have to take care of.

you cant do that because when you hit a yoyo on the ground it doesnt make a sounde like scunge. it makes a ding!

I! How do you know what a scunge sounds like? In answer to teh original question, yes, but not bad.

Yep, every brand new yoyo I've gotten I've scunged within the first few hours.

Dings give character, don't worry about it.

A scunge sounds like a scrape plus grunge in it. As in, a dirty ding.

I find that I play yoyos with scunges in them more than any other. Smiley

I always remember what mother BosK used to say to me as a kid...

"if you don't want your toys broken (dinged)... don't take them out to play"

The first ding is always a -----.. but after that i'm not bothered
