Dark Magic problems + Hubstacks
« on: March 09, 2010, 04:58:31 PM »

My DM had this problem that if I didn't tighten it all the way, the string would slip in between the bearing and the bearing seat and get caught around the axle. So I bought some shims (the large, brass, Dif-E-Yo ones) and when I put them both on, the gap was too wide and it would slip and wouldn't bind. If I put one on, the same thing happens, and it makes this weird scratching sound, and only spins for a few seconds. Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

Oh, and the string is still getting stuck under the bearing, in between the bearing and yoyo side.

Sand down the shims and remove the bearing shields.

Well, you know you can't loosen it very much before the bearing-yoyo gap shows up, right?

How tight are you twisting it with both shims in?

Thanks, yoyospirit, removing the shields helped. I was twisting it as far as I could with the shims in but everything seems to be fine now, thanks for the help
