I was looking at supplies online and it looks like you could get set up to do some anodizing for under $500. I'm sure one would run into unexpected costs along the way or even figure out how to do it cheaper. I am going to go to a place across town that anodizes auto parts and such just to see the process done, ask questions and try to figure out if its something that is even possible to take on as a part time or hobby type project. I was just wondering if anyone here did it and if they had any advice.

You could search the forum and find a lot of info from Frederico and Vendetta.

Well, I went by the anodizing shop and the guy was pretty cool. He even came by my shop, drank a couple beers and helped me figure out a setup using coolers and buckets. I already have a blasting cabinet but I am going to have to get a better compressor. Mine works but its a pain to work with. I am going back to his shop today to learn a little more.

Don't do it. He doesnt want anymore compition not that he has any hahaHas nothing to do with this. More to do with the fact that it is time consuming/dangerous, and it's all for very little (relative) profit.

Don't do it. He doesnt want anymore compition not that he has any hahaAfter searching through the forum and seeing Vendetta's work, I am way more likely to be a customer of his than any kind of competition. I just want to learn how to do it and maybe try to do it on some my own stuff. Learning to anodize is one thing, creating the artwork he does is something that takes talent. Hats off to ya Vendetta

Hats off to ya Vendetta I appreciate the compliments. It's really that it's just a lot of work, and takes a decent amount of money to get started and do it right. Also, it's just too dangerous for your average forum-goer.

Yeah, you gotta have wicked beard to pull it off. Hardcore. Oh, hi, Justin! Seriously, though, just wiki the process, and you'll see it's a ridiculous process. It's not like dying or even light modding. You need serious stuff. Seriously dangerous stuff. (Just go with Vendetta he's the stuff)
