Hitman is responsive.
« on: February 08, 2010, 06:03:29 PM »

OK, so I received a Hitman in a trade a while back. It came with shaved O-rings. I decided to take them out and silicone the yoyo. (after playing with it that way for about 3 months at least.) Upon doing so, the bearing quickly locked up. (he shipped the bearing de-shielded, I really don't understand why anyone would play like this...) I blasted it out with compressed air and added a drop of thin lube. The bearing would actually spin now, but the yoyo was the epitome of tug responsive. After playing with it anyway for a few days, the bearing started crackling, which it shouldn't, having only been played a few days on one drop of lube. I cleaned the bearing today, dried it, put it back in the yoyo. It was better, but still not anywhere near as unresponsive as it should be. I added a drop of lube because I HATE cleaning bearings and NEVER run them dry, ever. 1 drop of thin lube made the yoyo as responsive as a stock Mosquito with two brand, ****ing new friction stickers. (and we all know how much we love those for being unresponsive...)

My Legacy and Hectic still play dead unresponsive with a drop of thin lube. What is wrong with this thing? Please talk me out of trading my collection for Adjust-o-matic's and Velocity's so I don't have to deal with this time consuming headache any more.  (yes, I have checked the bearing seat and scraped it out multiple times, as well as doing ALL of the "rule of thumb" maintenance.)

-Your adding to much lube
-Clean the bearing with acetone again sometimes it takes more than once
-If its a dead bearing spend the 4 or 5 bucks and get a new one.

Hitman is probably top 5 in the list of yoyos ive used since 96' and Ive used alot. Unless the bearing seat is destroyed or the yoyo is cracked and horribly destroyed it should play pretty damn smooth and unresponsive. Every one ive had works wonders.

It is still far too responsive for shims to even be considered part of this equation.
When the bearing is spinning slowly, it is more unresponsive. However, after a good throw, the yoyo is spinning quickly and will shoot back to your hand on the slightest tug. I'm guessing that there is still a small particle of something in the bearing. I'll try cleaning it again, but have a bad feeling about the results for some reason.
