Topic: Think before you delete, mods. (Read 811 times)

Yesterday, I bumped my BST thread at 11:41 PM PST. I bumped my thread today at 4:00 PM PST or something similar. Unfortunately, a mod who can't seem to calculate time changes, deleted my recent bump, because from the mod's view, the two bumps were on the same day since he lived in the eastern areas compared to CA. You would think, "How would they know that if you're in the PST time zone?" But, on my account, it states that I live in CA. I've had it on there for awhile now. And in the BST rules thread, it clearly states that: As in, you just have to wait until the next "day" not a full 24 hours. Well, I waited for the next day, and see what happened. Some mod deletes my post. I don't really care who did it, but some mods need to be cautious from now on. If I didn't notice that my bump got deleted, no one would see my BST thread. Please be careful next time, whoever you are. |

Did the same friggin thing to me to... and then they locked my thread. EDIT: and then they PMed me saying that I should read the rules. They say that the rules say one bump every 24 hours. Thats different than what it says mods! The PM was from the man who wrote the rules himself... Douglas Brown!  |

Zuha, I was not the one to delete your bump, but I see the problem that was created for both of you. I can't seem to think of a great solution. On hand, a strictish 24 hour bump rule prevents users from being able to change the time of day that they would like to bump, since according to the rule they could only bump in the morning/evening/afternoon and what have you. On the other hand, problems like yours can be created. I'll draw the other moderators attention to this, and simply ask that we all be wary of bumps in the evening time.
For the record, gotquack bumped his thread multiple times per day (within a few hours, nowhere near "midnight"). These bumps were deleted. He then bumped again, so, yes, I locked his thread. The rules have been up long enough to allow everyone to adjust, and I'm tired of having to delete the same multiple bumps from the same people. Before I could even PM him, he created multiple threads saying extremely rude things about the mods, and extolling competing stores. It was not even close to "the same friggin thing."

Ummm Douglas I bumped 3 hours ahead cause I was never gonna be able to bump at midnight. and in my time zone it was 9:30 when I bumped it then the next day I bumped it at 6. For Me It Was The Next Day! and by the way lol the mods cant take a diss.
