FHW
« on: January 20, 2010, 05:18:02 PM »

This is just an idea, that I thought of while reducing the weight on one of my FHZ's (by shaving the rims).

FHW stands for Free Hand Weightless, a FHZ which would have a weight of near 0g. Now, I know your thinking thats impossible, but here is how it would work. First, you would find the volume of the cup area of a FHZ with caps on. Then, you would find a rubber "bladder" (such as a thick balloon) that would have the same volume as the cup area, when fully pumped. The "bladder" would have to be flexible, so it would mold to the shape of the cup area. Then, you would pump the bladder full of Helium. I have know idea how much it would reduce the FHZ's weight, but I am guessing it would increase spin-times (because of the lack of center weight, but there is technically still weight on the rims), and make it just about the floatiest yo-yo around!

I know this is stupid, but if someone has money to burn and time to kill, it would be cool to see done.

If this needs to be moved i'm good with that, even if its non-yoyo related due to the posts randomness  Embarrassed.

it generally takes a good bit of helium to lift an object of any significant weight so idk how well it would work but hey try it i meen why not ya know?

Yeah, it may not reduce it that much, but still, if someone had the time and or money to get supplies that worked, it would be kinda cool.

Quite possibly. Still, it was supposed to be kind of random, and it would be kind of cool to have a yoyo with that amount of hang time.

In skateboarding element dis this concept to make the skate board lighter so I'm sure it would work with yoyos I ersonally love the idea

come on...it can't be the dumbest thing.  maybe in the top 5...but dumbest?

i like to throw my yo yos in the 70g plus range...so i'm out.

it's been said over and over again...rim weight is where it's at on a yo yo.  and your effectively sayin' eliminate all rim weight.  so it's hard for me to get to that.

SUPERFLOATYYOYOSAREGOODYOYOS.

a floating yoyo would classify as "floaty", correct?

You wouldn't be able to get a strong throw because of the weight, but I am still very intrigued. You should do it.

I think you could get a good throw because it still has the same mass.  It wouldn't affect spin because sintripital sp? force still works with no gravity (wheightless).  Uber responsive prob.

I don't really know if the mass would affect the sleeper or not, but the seam between the caps and body is probably not airtight.

BTW, centrifugal.

I literally lol'd.

No offense, I thank you for putting the"sp?" and knowing you probably spelled it wrong. It was just really funny.
