depends HOW you mean to play. type 6 will give lower response but type 8 will last longer. type 6 will generally loop up badly and regen inconsistently. you can also find type 9 out there, which I like a lot. I've been playing type 10 since October, which is amazing, but THICK!

 8 is the standard, and IMO the most consistent choice for wood.

Oh, I quickly realized that poly burns fast on wooden axles, I didn't have to even ask, it just makes sense. I use black type 8 cotton and yellow 50/50 now.

I guess I just didn't think about it before pulling a highlight out of my bundle and throwing it on my fresh no-jive. Thought it was a funny story to share though Smiley

i recently got inspired by (the official wood thread) and bought a no-jive.  please allow me to add this question .

does the string spin on the axle or is the axle suppose to spin in the seat like a proyo ?

Depends on the set up as well. Typically the string will spin on the axle though.
