Only if it is 95%+ alcohol. The water in most rubbing alcohol can potentially damage bearings. Mineral Spirits/paint thinner is just as cheap, if not cheaper, and better for the bearings. If it's an age thing, because I've seen that come up before, just ask your parents to buy it for you.

One of a kind is not all that matters. I can draw a picture of a dog chasing a rat who is pissing on a cat... sure its one of a kind but no one will want it.

I wasnt to sure on what he said so i decided to test it out on my Duncan Speed Beetle bearings. His advice did help me somehow, I am a curious person. There is advice and answers. Advice is help and answers is the fact.

Fact: Water in sub 95% alcohol can damage bearings.

Depends on how dirty it gets. I never clean mine, I just add lube if it gets a bit sluggish... if that doesn't help, then I clean them.

Yep, that's what I do as well. Generally, when I first get a yo-yo I check to see if the bearing is dry or not. If it is dry, I add one drop of thin lube.
When they start making strange noises I'll try adding another drop of lube, if that doesn't work, I clean.

another very effective way to clean bearings is with a tooth brush and some dish soap. scrub the deshielded bearing under the water but make sure you dry it very well after and put a few drops of lube in it right after so it doesnt rust. this method will get out caked on dirt unlike mineral spirits and lighter fluid. this method revived my old 888 bearing

Never Ever use any type of soap.
Lets say that you somehow don't get all of the soap out. Now it's all gummed up and not usable.

That's a lot like saying, "Don't say it's bad advice to pour sulfuric acid over bare skin until you have tried it." There are plenty of things where actually experiencing it is not required, this is one of those times. Water will cause rust and corrosion. Even if your bearings are stainless steel they can still rust; the it will just take longer. Soap leaves residue behind. Have you ever had to clean a shower? What is all over the walls of a shower? Soap scum is all over the walls. Where did it come from? It came from the soap. When a full drop of oil is considered too much in a bearing you must wonder how soap scum would be a bonus.

Ok seriously people.. wtf.
Just piss on your bearings, it's the magic way that all the top players make their yo-yos spin forever and it is the only reason mickey and yuuki have been able to win worlds.
Also, you get extra spin from burning them in rocket fuel, but most people don't have access to it so you'll have to stick to the above.
