Okay, you've described other yoyos as having character too. That still doesn't describe what this "character" or "soul" is. Why tell me to stfu just for stating my opinion? If you can state a logical explanation for this "character" and "soul", I'll take back anything I said.

soul, evidently, means "not mass produced by a large company regardless of end quality". Things that don't have soul include, evidently, FHZ, the 07 888, anything by one drop, clyw, anti-yo, etc...

that leaves you what? Kyo's stuff?

Wrong.

It's the same sort of Je ne sais quois that people say contributes to a different experience with caps on a yoyo. A mass produced yoyo to me is light, feels hollow or fragile. An 888 is an ideal example. They feel very cheap to me. As much as I like projects, they don't have this "character". They just play well and feel solid.
Feeling mass-produced and being literally mass-produced are different. Try to articulate exactly what it is about some band that you like that no one else seems to like with complete accuracy. Leave no stone unturned. The same thing can apply for a preference of any art or whatever. It is the same with yo-yos and other things like bikes too. Some stuff just feels crappy and manufactured.

Still don't get what I mean? That's fine. You probably weren't going to understand from the start anyway because some people just don't have the capacity to see things in such terms.

Taking things that clearly aren't meant to be interpreted literally, literally is a submission of being a dumb ----.

so you like a solid feeling yoyo. Can't argue with you there. Solid is fun.

Thanks for that explanation, Mordel. I understand the way you see things. I just have another question. Do you believe a yoyo can be mass-produced, but not feel mass produced, and have character?

In my opinion, I think that a yo-yo can be produced in large quantities and still have character to it. I think design is one of the biggest factors in the whole feel of the yo-yo. You can Machine a yo-yo flawlessly, but if the design sucks, it will suck all the same.
I think there is a difference between large scale production and mass-production too. One dude with one lathe cranking out a bunch of yo-yos is one thing while a few different dudes operating a few different lathes seems a bit more mass-produced-ish.

I am largely talking out of my ---- at this point(more so than usual) because I don't know much about any company's production process other than that of One Drop and to a lesser extent Spyy and CLYW.

Just to use an example that I alluded to earlier: I don't think an 888 is a yo-yo that will ever change much for me in relation to it's total weight and measurements, however I am sure that MVPs probably feel damned solid, though they look like a fairly sterile throw to me based on it's shape and such. There's nothing entirely wrong with that though, it's all preference an I would like try an MVP at one point even though I am not really too stoked on the shape.

Despite what it may look like, I am not r=trying to bag on YYF here, it just happens to be the first company that comes to mind based on how heavily they manage to saturate market with so many products at once in such short amounts of time and in rather rapid succession at that.

I know that im not Mordel, but the BBYY Bully had two pretty large runs, that i would consider mass produced, and it plays like an amazing yoyo, its solid, and fun. IMO of course

I forgot to say another silly thing that I think is that some yo-yos are no f***in' around-type competition yo-yos and others are like fun to throw that some still bring to comps because of their comfort with them, leetness etc etc.

Thanks, Mordel, nothing I can argue with there. I feel the same about the MVP. Oh. Yeah, YYF makes some of the best no f***in around competition yoyos. I think we've gone enough off topic though.
