i thought it ment that the yoyo would be bigger, i really want alike a 53.75mm one, imo thad be prefect, id buy 4-5 of them ben.
They made one, its called the DNA. It didnt sell very well. |

so...why is this yoyo cheaper than previous models? I know it was mentioned earlier that they were made in China (were they American made before?)- is this true? What are some other reasons for the cheaper price? Cheaper type of aluminum? Different machining process? YYF just eating into their profit margin (probably not the case )? With this in mind, is anyone worried about a drop off in quality in the 888 from years past? |

Probably because Ben/the powers that be decided that considering how popular lower-priced yo-yos seem to be that not marking up their price savagely will help them fly off of the shelves.
Compare the dimensions of the other innexspensive yyf yo-yos. Note the strikingly similar dimensions and prices of the Hectic and Frantic, which have very close machining costs to the 888. Now consider how much the hubstack bearings are likely to cost.
I am sure that I am missing something, but considering what I do understand regarding the prices that the yyf products are tending to go for, it would be pretty disgusting if the new runs of 888s' prices weren't lowered.

Original 888s sold for one bill. I bought one in fact. Call it a hunch, but I don't think "sub $100" means a dollar less or something, I think that it means $90 or maybe less. Though it would be really funny if they get put up for $94.99 or something like that.
Either way, read things more thoroughly.
Either way, I bet that it will be the exact same 888 that has always been produced minus tweaks.
Using an X in the place of a ten is far cooler as far as branding and marketing goes.

i know a lot of people will be concerned about the 888x being made in china, but yyf has been trying hard to make sure they do it right. i know chinese yoyos aren't necessarily bad because i have an auldey virus. it's not a perfect design (though it does look fancy), but it is high quality and vibe free (except the fake kk bearing).

in my experience, China makes worst quality products in the world. (no offense to the Chinese out there.)
their products such as dumplings and powder milk had poison in it. It injured many people and killed some.
I've had products made in China break easily, or not function the way it is supposed to. I cannot trust China.

it's true almost everything made in china is crap, but there are exceptions. companies that care about their products and decide to use a chinese manufacturer will make sure it's done right. i'm pretty sure ben knows the consequences that will come if the 888x is bad, so i doubt it will be.

if that were true you should throw away most of your clothes. electronics too. esp your ipods/iphones. China cant help having cheap labour due to the large population. this is the reason why companies manufacture their products there. they want to lower production costs and increase their profit margin. at the end of the day the onus is on the companies to ensure that they have QC standards. |
