I have a duncan sized KK bearing and 2 Yoyojam sized ones on their way (with my Cream order). I also skateboard and I just realized that you're supposed to lube your bearings with the appropriate substance once you're done cleaning them... does this apply to yoyo bearings?! I have Duncan Tube of Lube (which sucks due to how thick it is), WD-40 (which you should NEVER clean Skateboard bearings with), and a special skateboard bearing lube. The stuff is pretty thin so is it safe to use in my yoyos? I just want to take awesome care of my bearings

Yeah, its better to lube them if you want them to last, lots of guys run them dry and just buy another when the burn out though
Don't use WD (bearing killer) 40
The best thing to use is YYJ thin lube; it's as nearly as thin as water (You just need a pinheads worth)
If your lube is similar, it should be ok. If it's thicker it will just take longer to break in (become unresponsive)

Trumpet oil (what trumpeters use on their trumpet valves) should work well too and be available at stores that sell musical instruments.

you can run bearings dry, it's just alot better for the bearing in the long run if they're lubed.
just use a very small amount of the thinnest lube you have that's NOT wd-40.

That stuff should be really good. A lot like YYJ thin. Use it and have fun!

Aww nuts... Well I slapped in a cleaned KK bearing in my Cream and it runs like a god, but If I lube it with the thin lube it becomes responsive with hard tug, thus discouraging me from doing any tricks where you pop the Yo-Yo up or let too much slack on the bearing...(Arm Grinds, etc.) Is it ok to run it dry? btw I used a drop of lube (the same amount as a drop from a vial of eyedrops). Was that too much? should I apply the lube with a pin or something to make sure I don't use too much?

You need to use a tiny bit, run a drop down a pin then touch it to one of the balls
After a day or so of playing it, it should become unresponsive
