Making the YYN Forum a better place - NEWER Update - VEGABOMB!
« on: August 10, 2009, 04:03:32 PM »

As some or most of you may have noticed, the YYN forum has been going through some growing pains recently. A major part of this problem has been the lack of active moderators on the forum, so with that in mind, over the past week or so between the madness of IYYO organization I have been hard at work signing up an almost entirely new team of moderators to help keep the forum running smoothly.
Joining the YoYoNation Moderating team are:

Nathan
JonRob
Bergy
Thewooddwarf
Andrew Robinson/FNG
Hpsi Epsi
Douglas Brown
DrYoYo
Ricerocket
ReverendYo
charlesf
Steve Brown
Vegabomb

They will join the remainder of the original moderating team and hopefully combine forces to make this board a happier place for all.

However, they cannot do everything themselves and we will need some help from our member base. So here are some guidelines to bear in mind.

If you see something against the rules or inflammatory do not respond to it.  Instead, hit the report button and wait for us to take action.  Rising to peoples’ bait will just drag the board down and potentially bring you into the moderators firing line as well.

New rules will be introduced for the B/S/T forum in order to keep in running smoothly and fairly. These will be in a sticky topic in that forum. Please do read them as they will be enforced to the letter and ignoring them will only make everybody’s life more difficult.

Think about your posts. Once you have typed them out read them through again and think to yourself: “Is this necessary?” “Is it noteworthy to more than one or two people?” If the answer to either or both of these questions is “no,” then hit that backspace key and take it to PMs if you have to.

Keep in mind that this forum is a place and ARCHIVE to learn, grow, and share with the yoyo community.  The more trash that gets posted on this board, the more trashy our ARCHIVE becomes.  Your words here are immortal (until we delete it, if needed!).

Please join me in welcoming our long-standing members as MODERATORS for YoYoNation’s Voice of the Nation!  Wish these guys luck and hopefully, with a combination of member and moderator power we can make this a happier (and more informative) place for all involved.

P.S Also be aware that this is an ongoing project. At this point we feel there is no such thing as too many moderators, so if anyone else has someone to recommend or wants to put themselves forward, send me a PM. Do not post in this topic.

This community has always been so responsive to any help I may need that it's a pleasure to be able to return the favor. If it weren't for the members of YoYoNation, I probably would not have stuck with yo-yoing.

Also, I am on the IM clients, so if you ever need some quick help feel free to message me there.

Nobody can agree precisely what yoyoing is, yet everybody wants to argue about it and take it way too seriously to the point that people get tired of talking or even thinking about it. Thus, yoyoing is art.

If I may expand on that.
We will likely see a large influx of new members arriving.  I encourage all of our members to put on the "Helping Others" caps over the "Snarky Response" hats that alot of us seem to wear.  You were new once also.  Remember that as you welcome in the new generation of YoYoNation members.

And I am happy to be of service here.

For the most part, the mods will be global. If someone requests to just work on a specific forum, we might work something out.

No arguements here, however FNG did resign as a moderater at theyo shortly after being modded; not saying he'd do it here but I have no idea what the circumstances even were.

I'm really happy to see that list, especially Douglas Brown... I know a lot of guys here would ban me first chance they got just for spite. >.>
