The Bassalope.Intro:CLYW makes some of the most diverse, amazing yoyos to date.
This edition, the Bassalope, is Sebastian Brock's signature yoyo. The Bass started out in plastic form to test the shape and feel.
A few tests later, Sebby gave it the green light. It recently dropped on YYN and I snagged one just in time. With all that said, I give you the Caribou Lodge Yoyo-Works Bassalope.

Aesthetics: Oh boy, oh boy. Get me a bib and a fresh pair of undies. When i first opened up that box I damn near pissed myself.
The Bassalope came in a shade of blue that I can only describe as "sexy time." I have to admit, I did not think I would like the engravings. But oh man, yes sir I do. Sebastian Brock is engraved at the gap area, surrounded by a white stripe. So classy, so classy. Beautiful job CLYW, I sure love the fresh new look.
Comfort:Perfect. Just perfect.
Fits the hand snug and has an enticing shape. Smaller gap, I dig.
This is a beautiful cross of the Peak and BvM. I love it. It feels as if it is the only yoyo I will ever need.
The beadblast is also amazingly smooth.
In action:First off: DAMN smooth, like a babies butt.
This yo glides through tricks like a rollercoaster threads the air. It spins forever, no doubt about it.
Oh, my God. Grinds. Better than my BvM, and that's saying something.
So good, so good. This thing does not cease to amaze. This is it guys, this is the one.
I guess it's just my perfect yoyo. This yoyo can handle anything you can throw at it.
Overall:This yoyo is a ton of firsts for CLYW.
Small bearing, pads, engraving, no splash. You name it, I love it. This yoyo really hits the nail on the head. I have nothing bad to say about it. It's beautiful, and it can kick some ---- to. Perfect is a term I do not use loosely. This yoyo is perfect. No doubt about it, I love this thing. If Chuck Norris yoyoed, he would use the Bassalope.
Hell of a job Chris, you're my hero. My only gripe is the ano defect on the bearing seat. It had me cringing, any thoughts on how this happened Chris?
Quotes from Some Fellow Owners:"In my humble opinion this is the best CLYW to date. The floatyness of the peak, and the speed of the BvM all in one. Such a great throw.. The small bearing makes it so smooth to throw."
"It's pretty good, extremely smooth and fast, plays like no other CLYW."
"The Bass is solid, smooth, and feels great through string tricks. I typically don't thoroughly enjoy small bearing/pad combos, but I can't deny the play that the Bass brings to the table."
The bassalope is the best small bearing yoyo i ever tried.
The bassalope is a beauty to behold when doing tricks, or showing it off in a case
"The Bassalope is a speed machine. With the new production design, this yo-yo has high RPMs, agility and super-quick response. It's a 100% competition yo-yo."
Okay I can write something better...hehe
This yoyo took about 1.5 years to finally release the production model. It was like pulling an elephant through a pin hole. So many obstacles were in the way, but we managed to get through it all. We really wanted to try something different with the design of the Bassalope...by doing the Peak and Bear vs Man we learned a lot about where to place weight as well as what types of profiles are really comfortable in the hand. I feel that this yoyo really combined all of Seb's favourite things about the yoyos we've previously done. Then we spiced things up by making it a small bearing and doing something really neat with the aesthetics in the hub area. I'm really happy with how this yoyo turned out and I can't wait to make the large bearing version.
