Competition Ceramic Bearing
« on: July 15, 2009, 01:31:41 PM »

I baught a bearing off ebay and I was curious to see if anyone else has tried one. It seams to work really good, it spins a long time. I just don't have a KK or a 10 ball to compare it to. If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.
thanks

And you bought a ceramic bearing?
truthfully dude a ceramic won't have a noticeable difference over a regular bearing...

How is one bearing better than another bearing aside from working correctly?

Fully ceramic bearings are capable of longer spin times, plus the break in more quickly. Its possible it could make the difference between you hitting or missing a trick; then again why depend on a bearing when you can depend on practice and dedication? Afro

I agree with you practice and dedication are important .... but equipment does count and this is true in any sport. even underwater BB stacking!

Wow...I've seen lots of people giving the man a hard time yet no one has come close to answering his question. Funny how that seems to happen a whole lot around here.

My guess is that the bearing he bought on Ebay came clean and the other one he is talking about is lubed. That would account for a substantial difference in play but not really a reason why one is better than the other. Just a guess though.

we are not talking opposite ends of the spectrum here. obviously if 2 people are pretty equaly skilled at something then superior equipment can possibly give you an edge. clearly if someone just sucks at something no equipment is going to help them.

I have a ceramic bearing matter of fact i just recently got it. the only diffrence i can see is that its not as noisy. I am not that skilled as to be able to judge spin time diffrences between the two diffrent type... seeing as how i cant run enough tricks together to test this. so for me either bearing works more then sufficent for my skill level.

It might only be me, but my ceramic kk is streets and light years and miles better than any of my other bearings.

On top of this, it's smoother, which makes my yoyo play better, which in turn makes me play smoother.

So

erm

Buying a good bearing makes you better. angel

But that might just be me...

you know... the OP's been yoyoing for 15 years. One thinks he would know the difference between lubed and clean. Sigh, usually when somebody so senior comes along we immediately defer to them. Why not in this case? Because we don't want to think we're doing something wrong.

If you won it you should be able to see it in your "My Ebay" page. Just click on "won" over on the left. That should show you all the auctions you have recently won.
