So with all the hype around this yo I figured I'd throw in my thoughts on it. On the whole this thing is a fantastic yo, but of all my other yos its one of my least favorites. 1) Look - these things look incredible. The finish on them is quite nice. 2) Feel - in the hand this thing is a great size for me. My hands are bigger than a lot of the younger kids yoyoing out there today. 3) Throw - So this is where this yo becomes a little less awesome for me. On the end of the string it just doesn't feel as solid. I guess I'm comparing this mostly to my one drops. My Markmont and P2 just feel so incredibly smooth on the end of the string. Its like absolutely nothing is moving down there. The 5-star however I can always tell is down at the end of the string spinning. Its not a bad thing or crazy vibe. Its just how this thing plays and its not my preference. 4) Bind - This thing binds perhaps a little too well I'm sure after a little breaking in though it will hit the sweet spot. Another issue for me here is the sound of this yoyo when it does come back to the hand. I guess its the shape of the yo that makes the sound resonate as its running back up the string, but there is some noise that I can't explain. I don't notice it on any of my other yos, but on this one its just a little off putting for some reason. I know this is a little silly, but it is something that changes my personal preference so I list it. 5) Overall - I think this is a great yoyo. I will continue to play with it as it is definitely a fun throw to have in the case, but more times than not I'd probably grab my Markmont, P2, BvM, and Superstar ahead of this. Final Disclaimer: This is a fantastic yo-yo that is well worth the money. In fact, I think this may be the first not 110% perfect review this thing has seen. Fact of the matter is that if you can do a trick with your current favorite throw (hustacks and such things excluded) you can do it with just about any of the yoyos out there on the market. Everything beyond that is just preference. My preference is that I like this yoyo, but not as much as some others I own. I hope this is helpful to someone out there!

I like mine alot too, but 1st impression and verdict are still out for me.
I have yet to clean and relube the bearing, which might make a huge difference. It's a touch too responsive for me out of the box.
It feels good... very good.
But then, my swiss Cut feels good... my BvM feels good... my 888 feels good... my DNA feels good....
They just feel different, but all awesome.
I'm going to have to clean the bearing, and spend some quality time with the 5-star... experiment with strings, etc. Before I can give a final verdict.

So I've played with this thing all day and I gotta say its growing on me. The ring it makes as it binds and I've noticed it on throw too is still a peeve of mine, but I would say its moving up. Perhaps now my 3rd favorite throw I own. Beat by the Markmont and P2.

My favourite right now. I am selling all of mine but the 5 star and possibly a superstar. I have owned or played almost every popular and hyped and good reviewed yoyo, and this is my favourite.

I know what you're talking about about the "ringing" sound. Mine got more prominent today when I lubed it for the first time. It rings on the bottom of the string and on the way back from a bind. HOWEVER, I actually like the sound it makes. In an odd way it keeps me focused in on the yoyo. heh. I love my 5*v2

Another update. I'm liking this yoyo more everytime I pick it up. So I definitely think that for me its not an instant love, but could be a top 5 favorite as time goes on. The ringing doesn't bother me as much, but I still don't find it pleasant

I have the 1st run 5 Star (Black & Red) and found it to be superb. Setting it up for unresponsive play without snagging took some experimentation but what I finally did was to remove the silicone from one half of the yo-yo and then it worked great with all kinds of string including PLASMA, INTENTUS and CC string. The yo-yo is solid, stable, smooth and fairly fast. The 1st run had a little kick back that didn't interfere with play. I put in a KK (I love KK). I didn't notice any ringing on my yo-yo but then again I have some high tone hearing loss and tinnitus and might not be able to hear it. I can hear a ringing when I play my Bapezilla, sounds like a hollow bell, at first it annoyed me but then I adjusted to it.
I thought about getting a 2nd run 5 Star but decided to wait to see if other colors will be offered in the future. With all of the excellent and expensive yo-yos that are coming out it is becoming more difficult to decide what to buy within budget. When I think back on my purchases really nothing I have in my collection has surpassed my 07-888 (this includes P1, P2, Plug In 3, Trainwreck 1, Tank, Bapezilla, Skyline, 08-888, 09-888) however I greatly enjoy collecting playable yo-yos and how the different ones handle.
Regarding P2 vs 5 Star (in my case 1st run 5 Star) both are outstanding however I find that the P2 being heavier and with so much rim weight it takes quite a bit more effort to put it through string tricks but this has forced me to be stronger with my technique and makes playing many of my lighter yo-yos seem almost effortless.

I suggest cleaning the bearing properly and trying it. My opinion is completely oppostie to the OP. Ive never played a yoyo that is so smooth... I literally cant feel it on the end of the string... I cant even feel the slightest vibration.
Whats your setup? I have both sides sili recessed to the max plus a kk bearing. Although the original bearing is slightly smoother, but ill sacrifice that hardly negligible bit of smoothness for a kk cos i love kks.
Ive spoken to a few who have owned both and they all say 5*v2

I'm running stock. It has gotten much better after many hours of play. I guess its broken in. Still doesn't beat out the P2 and Markmont imo, but its moving up the ranks for me personally. Again, liking it more every time I pick it up.

Again, liking it more every time I pick it up. I'm running mine stock too.. it's perfect right now. The ringing went down a little bit (it mainly started when I put a drop of lube in it). I wish I could buy a bundle of chaos string in the colorway that came with the 5*v2.. I've become quite fond of it.

* It's perfectly balanced * It's perfect for grinding * Intelligent design providing long spins * Superb response system * Fine gap width These points have absolutely nothing to do with preference. When it comes to that: * Dead sexy horns * Beautiful shape * Fine engravings * Bad ---- looking rims So, I haven't played many yoyos which score in that much points. So, I guess something about the hype must be true. This is one of the best yoyos out there. No discussion here.

After a week of not touching anything cept my 5*v2, I came to a conclusion and gave pretty much all my other throws away to my friends so I can have someone to yoyo with. It's pretty fun watching my friend learn to bind on an addict. And my other friend got my g5 and a pyro lite (which I threw maybe twice). Except I couldn't give away my skyline.. I love that little bugger. Once I get my German edition 5*v2 I probably won't buy anymore yoyo's until all three bust. Don't quote me here though.

Ok wow huge diff..
I replaced the bearing with a KK bearing freshly prepped by myself, threw on the chaos 122 string.... and this yoyo is a different demon all together.
I'm loving it more and more now. I can throw 7 in a row matrix, roll into buddha's and do 4 cycles, and end in a nice bind off of one good throw. (i dunno but thats pretty good for me) .
It is very smooth, and binds are tight. The yoyo does have a great "floaty" quality to it.
I'm not ditching my other yoyo's, but this so far sure seems nice.
