I used to play a lot, was ranked top 20 worldwide in Guitar Hero 2 Expert, and top 50 in GH3 expert at the high point.

65 out of 74 GH2 Expert FCs (100%s)
62 out of 70 GH3 Expert FCs (100%s)

Don't play much Guitar Hero anymore since Harmonix split, mainly playing Rock Band drums instead.

Also, while Fcing WYWY or Learn To Fly may not be particularly noteworthy in the grand of scheme of things, there's no need to be a ------- about it. I don't wanna have to delete more posts from this thread.

I am extremely bitter about guitar hero, rock band, etc. Anyone here who has ever played Bemani games like Guitar Freaks, Drummania, and especially(also my personal favorite) Beatmania, knows that the learning curves on these games are much steeper. This can turn off some gamers, but in the long run it makes the game more rewarding, in my opinion. However, now that people have a taste of rock band, and guitar hero, we will never get anymore beatmania, guitarfreaks, and drummania games for america, because people will see these games as rip offs. For example, when reviewing Beatmania, Adam Sessler treated it like a Guitar Hero imitation. The issue is that Beatmania came out in 1998, way before Guitar Hero was thought of. Drummania and Guitar Freaks followed soon after, with arcade co-op play.

To me, Bemani games are more difficult, as the grading involves goods, greats, flashing greats(perfects) etc. Also, I love the music in these games, because it is not lame-------- radio rock tunes, it is well composed music that is actually made just for the game. The sad thing is that the only game konami will keep bringing to U.S. is DDR, because it is the only one that clicked with a majority of american audiences. Beatmania US failed, and Konami made a stupid mistake by releasing Rock Revolution instead of one of their nice pure games like Drummania or Guitar Freaks. Rock Revolution was definately bound to be seen as a rip-off

All in all, I will never buy another red-octane music game because of the lousy song lists, and if you ever get a chance to try a bemani music game, especially beatmania, it will open your eyes to a real challenge.

When you see DJ Hero in stores, remember the original: Beatmania.

I give credit for anyone who can play beatmania on an extreme level. Its seriously ALOT harder then it looks. And guitar freaks looks like it has more complex strum patterns then rockband/guitar hero. But overall, people need to recognize guitar freaks and beatmania more.

lousy song lists

Are you high or do you just not like rock?!

Guitar Hero and Rock Band have some great song lists!

Iron Man - Black Sabbath
Hot for Teacher - Van Halen
One - Metallica
Painkiller - Judas Priest
Rock'n Me - Stevie Miller Band
Godzilla - Blue Oyster Cult
The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden
Cherub Rock / Today - The Smashing Pumpkins

etc, etc.

The list could go on and on, the point being, the song lists definitely aren't lousy

Well, they might. For the most part, when I actually played guitar hero, I only played about 3 songs over and over. In 2, it would be like shadows fall, and like all that remains would be the only songs I wanted to play. Then in 3, I only liked Cliffs of Dover and a couple of other songs. When I played world tour the only songs I liked to play were Satch Boogie, that Bullet for My Valentine song, and Beat it.In Rock Band, the only songs I was really interested in were the Yngwie Malmsteen songs, and you had to buy those later anyway. For the most part, I only like songs where instruments are the focus, rather than the focus being on catchiness for radio's sake. But that is only an opinion, and not the true reason I am bitter about those games. I just want bemani to get recognized as the originator, and the more difficult series.

For example, while playing Guitar Hero after some weeks I was able to fool around with expert. On the other hand, I have been playing beatmania on and off for like 3 years, and I still can not do most 7s and 8s on the MIDDLE level(Hyper). The song difficulties go up to like 12 on a mode called Another.
