For those that haven't heard yet, the Wrist Mount Project is my attempt to make a looong instructional video on just what can be done with a wrist mount. I've been working hard to get this done "enough" to release for the holidays and it looks like I'm finally there! The video itself is done (weighing in at just under 35mins). The instructional text page is half-way there. I'll fill in the rest of that in the coming days. So, check out the site and let me know what you think (be sure to see the notes on the main page if you have trouble playing it). Hope you enjoy my little Christmas gift to the yo-yo world. ( Edited Dead Link) http://www.shawnfumo.com/mwiki/Wrist_Mount_Project(Live) http://www.archive.org/details/ShawnFumoWristMountProjectShawn P.S. Apologies on not posting on this board until now. Pat is awesome, but I've been pretty busy lately. I'll see if I can be a bit more active coming forward. Edit: Did I not put the link in? Sorry about that...

Great great great stuff Shawn. More stuff like this is what the yoyo community needs. Like, it's all well and good kids wanting to learn tricks, but the problem is "tricks" don't really exist any more...everything blew up so fast that what we have today is a bunch of people doing crazy things with simple trick concepts. By explaining how people can explore one of these concepts i.e Wrist Mount you're building bridges that kids can cross to get between the "Ok, i've learned everything on Sector Y" stage to the "OK WTF Did Yuuki just do" stage I'd move this into the trick forum...but i don't appear to have my mod power back since the switch yet Edit: Just reading through...nice to see someone else uses the term "stutter"

Great job shawn and welcome to the board.
Although I have seen most of the footage a while ago I was really surprised by the finished project. This video has set a new standard for instructional videos and people at all skill levels can learn a lot from it.

Shawn--awesome guide to a mount that always seems to tie me in knots. This will be one to study for a long time. I'd love to see the YYN crowd step up to help with sequencing by giving time break-downs to add to the wiki. I'll take the first two sections:

Thanks for an awesome Christmas present!
I know I will learn a lot from this! I also downloaded the Combined-Community-Codec-Pack, and it seems to work great, I am still running win98, and it works extremely well with it. It is cool to be able to run Mp4's with windows media player. I did get an error message, that said windows Media player did not recognize the file extension, but it asked if I wanted to play the file anyways, I clicked yes, and it worked extremely well.
Also thanks Tonyoyo for the breakdown of the first two sections.
Thanks so much Shawn for doing it again, what a wonderful gift to the community!
I have always referred people wanting to learn AA to your looping guide, your guides helped me so much when I was struggling to learn two handed loops.

You might want to try downloading the Combined-Community-Codec-Pack, I only have a P3 800 running windows98 and it worked great for me, the link to it is on Wrist_Mount_Project page. good luck..........Jim

Tony, that's a good idea. Since I made the video first, I've mostly been thinking in terms of seeing something in the video and looking up the text, but I can see how the opposite would also happen. Thanks for the effort, but don't worry about putting more effort into finding times. The way that I created the video (using avisynth), I ended up generating an external subtitle file for all text and then burning it into the video when compressing. So I can actually look in there and it says exactly when each bit of text starts fading on screen. I'll round to the nearest second, and that should work out fine. This should be easier than trying to click around the video to find a particular trick number. Jim, that's interesting that it is working on 800mhz! Maybe ffdshow (which CCCP is using) is more efficient somehow... Shawn

omg...so I just watched the whole thing. omg this is exactly what I was looking for or needed...you know...the next step, and you show it in such a really easy to do/easy to follow way. omg.
I am scared to see the stuff that kids are going to be doing with having a break down of the wrist mount now available.
Time to learn!!

Yoji, check the main project page. I list a bunch of software to try for windows. Installing the CCCP codec pack or ffdshow on its own should let it play in most any player like window media player, but Quicktime or VLC Player can play it by default. Shawn

Can you download the latest QuickTime? That's all the video requires. I had problems until I got the most up-to-date QT, and I didn't need to pull down any codecs once I picked it up.
