Just to clarify, when I made this thread I was simply saying that I preferred playing responsive for the fun factor. The thread title wasn't necessarily meant to be taken quite so literally. I was just saying that for me responsive is more fun. I wish I had that trader feedback again...

I'd like to comment on all the people who have stated that there aren’t many responsive yoyos available. Responsive and unresponsive has almost nothing to do with the design of a yoyo, it's all in the set up. One drop of thick lube will make just about any yoyo responsive, and if that doesn't do the trick change the response system. The reason the sili is so great is not because it plays one way are another, but because you can set it up any way you like. I always leave a spare bearing or two thick lubed in case I feel like a change of pace. There's a lot of math we don't teach much of in modern elementary and middle schools that was taught and used often a century ago. For instance, compound arithmetic for use in dealing with myriad units of measure that are now outmoded in favor of our current standards. What do the kids spend their time learning if not this now-largely-useless skill? More advanced stuff sooner. And if they desire to go back and learn it, knowing advanced math hardly puts them at a disadvantage.
This seems reasonable until you think about it a tiny bit. This line of thought renders useless; bikes (we have cars), handwriting (we have computers), reading (books on tape, hello!), sun shine (ever hear of a light bulb?). Old and obsolete do not mean the same thing.

That reply assumes that I'm trying to equate old to obsolete in that quote, which I'm most assuredly not. We still use basic arithmetic quite often, just as we use slip strings and trapezes. What I'm getting at in that quote is that compound arithmetic, as with tug response, can be left out of the luggage for most people and never missed on the trip.

Generally speaking, if I'm playing responsive, I'm using a fixed axle. I probably split my time about evenly between the two. It's all yo-yo.

I have a Renegade for responsive play. I love it! I also use a Profly if I want to go even crazier .
