Offstring tricks!
« on: December 18, 2005, 10:17:01 PM »

I am an intermediate and am interested in offstring yo-yoing, Does anyone know how to make tricks, or where to get some? And what is the dice/ball on the other end of a yo-yo for offstring tricks?

For offstring tricks, I suggest visiting www.offstring.com

As for the die\ball on the end of the string, that is actually a counterweight, and it's usually used for Freehand style play.

just clarifying yoyojam's point, with freehand/ 5A the yoyo is attached to the striing but not to your finger, it is instead attached to a counterweight *usually* a dice

Offstring is with the string attached to your finger, but the yoyo isn't attached to the string.

If your interested in eithe, Duncan the freehand and Offsting CD is a good place to start, not sure but I think the Duncan Throwmonkeys and Flying Pandas both come with that CD.

I found it nice to learn a few off string mounts.. and just play with them when you get them down.
Personally I havent found any creative offstring (or too helpfull) sites yet.. I got some stuff at worlds.
But the Duncan cd is a good thing to begin with.. but to learn tricks, I think you might have to make up your own stuff..

but what do I know.. you are the Master Smiley
