I have to say that I was a YYJ fan. I love hybrids because they can be heavy, but at the same time not be sluggish at all. However, today changed my mind completely.
Yoyojam's Legacy is a great yoyo combining metal weight rings with a celcon body to create one of the best playing plastics ever. The Legacy is solid, stable, quick, yet can play as well as a YYJ hybrid. But, Yoyofactory decided to release a couple of yoyos that sort of combat the same idea. The Counter Attack is alright, but does not exactly play as smoothly or as well as the Legacy; at least in my opinion. I'd much rather throw a Legacy. Then came the Protostar...
I thought the Atmosphere was finally going to take the cake for these plastic/metal type yoyos, but it is a lie. All of it. The best playing plastic/metal is finally here: the Protostar. Today, I got to have a very long taste of Kumo's Protostar. I did not let go of it for a couple of hours I'm assuming, because it was the most amazing thing ever. With just a little more tightening, the yoyo was pretty much as dead smooth as you could get with a plastic. The stability rivaled that of any metal (I'm sure I'm not exaggerating) and the shape was very comfortable in the hand; even with its weird angular shape similar to the Severe. As much as I hate talking about gap sizes, I'm guessing the gap size is perfect if it has Ando's name on it. Hell, the yoyo in general is perfect and Ando obviously agrees. Anyway, playing with it I could not guess what the weight of it was at all because of how well it played. Based on the Counter Attack's weight, I am guessing the Protostar is around 68g maybe, but it does not play that way at all. It is a very speedy yoyo. This plastic is going to bring death to metals all around (I am hoping). It's all you need and it has it all: speed, stability, and pure sex. Protostar=sex.
And if you really care and have to know: yes, the binds are tight. It seems as if Kumo siliconed it rather than kept the K-pads, though. And if you REALLY need to know: yes, it can sleep for a long time. But, really though, why would that matter while you're playing with it anyway? It's not like it's the Buddha King or something.
To Yoyofactory: Thank you very much. You guys are awesome. You blew me out of the water with this new release. I thought the metals would take me away, but a plastic? I hope you continue to release plastics that will play just as well as the Protostar, if not better.

You might want to satin it. I'm not a big grinder so I really did not care for grinds. i thought it was uncomofortable, thats why i traded mine away.
YYF's angular shapes are something to get used to..

most reliable plastic ever, i agree. Especially after he tightened that guy XD i guess that's all it needed, and it's pretty dead smooth I also endorse it as the best playing plastic on the market as well. Grinding on plastics are always a lol and i'm not a fan of satining them. I am Kumo, and i approve this message!
