One Drop Project Review

First Impressions

I open up the box to find a yoyo much smaller then i expected (as this was my first metal, i did not know how small most metal yoyos would be). When i first saw the yoyo box i thought that this was going to be way too small to use. After the first throw that all changed. The yoyo came with a lubed up bearing which i cleaned after a few days use. The yoyo it self was in a metallic Grey color. A bit of a boring color to some, but i just think it looks classy. The engraveings are simeple but get the job done (also "classy"). The hex nut looks really cool as well as the grooves. In the end with all these elements combined the yoyo looks very pleasing to the eye. Not boring at all, but not overdone as some popular yoyos today.

Play

This yoyo came equipped with dual vapor pads, a little snaggy with a cleaned bearing, but nice when broken in. Now with my experience with silicon i wish this yoyo would come with a silicon response, but the walls are too thin for one. Recently I replaced the pads with the famous chaz pads, it plays very nice with them. The yoyo comes vibe free like many metals in the market these days. At 64 grams this yoyo is not super fast but not slow. It cam be played at any speed you want, but you definitely can zip through tricks no problem. The under sized size allows for easy chopstick combos, as well as being easy to weave out of those complex string tricks as well. I am not much of a grinder but finger grinds are very easy because of the grooves and soda blasting. The soda blasting is also a very good surface for palm grinds. No problems with the hex nut, it is a very good idea. The yoyo gap is a nice size, would not hurt to be a bit bigger but it does not snagg with the right response set-up.

Final Thoughts
Pros- Cheap, nice yoyo, awesome company, smooth, good looking.
Cons- Could use silicon response, and slightly larger gap, basically a MarkMont is a slightly "better" version.
So this yoyo is definitely worth picking up at only $86, but if you are willing to shell out the extra cash get a MarkMont.

Excuse my naivete, but did  One Drop switch from Kentaro pads to vapor pads?  You said in your review that vapor pads came with it.  Did you buy it used?

Projects would be so close to perfect if they came with silicone, sadly they don't.  Cry
