The looks of it is up to their standard. There talking about some vibe. My proto has it but over time it's been getting better.
ok I just order a beta...have you try'd to kk it? tune the vibe out...is it crazy envy 64 vibe or anti-yo vibe? I haven't tried tuning it or using a kk. I'm not sure how you'll tune this. Mines more like anti-yo vibe.

i can't shake the feeling scuba steve actually got some inspiration for the pistolero from an old design of mine, which i posted on the forum a while ago. Especially because he gave some good comments back then on my design...
Well it's not entirely the same, but clearly has the same overall shape. But when i have the means, my design will eventually hit the shelves and all will be right again.
News to me. Refresh my memory with a pic if you don't mind. click and drag to rotate http://home.euphonynet.be/yodle/prototypefinal.htmloh man i'm in love all over again if i see this again... Wouldn't this be a beauty?

well while you certainly can see some differences, i do think there is also some major similarities. especially the rim. But don't get me wrong, i do not have the intention to accuse steve of something he may or may not have done. Even if he had, he wouldn't say it anyway so i'll contribute this to sheer coincidence. anyway good work steve but i still think mine is smexier Hope it ever finds its way to the metal shop

I find it rude you infer he copied your design, then question his integrity. I dont think you meant to do these things but you have done both of them.
Steve is an honest person who has created something quite unique in a cluttered time. (and for the record, I fail to see the similarities also)

It's strange that the bit you pointed out as smiler, is the bit that looks the most different

I agree, completely. I think your design is nice, but fail to see the similarities. The rims are the same because they are flat, so he stole your design? Kinda seems like you are inferring then that you stole one drop's design, or vice versa. It's almost like saying that because there are two round halves connected by an axle with a bearing on it, it's the same. The shape of the yoyo is completely different. Your design shows a concave wall connecting the rim and response area, while Steve's is convex. Just one difference. Either way, it doesn't matter. Your design is nice, and I hope that you one day have the means to bring it to fruition. However, the Pistolero is also very nice in its own way, and I can't wait to get mine. Good work Steve! I hope that you will soon be able to produce them to your full expectations. Thanks for providing these as a beta in the meantime.

That design looks nothing like the pistolero. Lots of yoyos have rims similar to your design. This topic is very cymbolmonkey- esque.

Wouldn't this be a beauty? If you don't want someone knocking off your work, DON'T POST IT ON THE INTERNET!!! Dumb move by immature designers.... Once it's on the internet it's considered public domain. I'd be more than shocked if your yoyo ever got produced. You posting that design is more of a, "Hey, look at me, I can make a cool 3d flash animation, praise me!" post than an actual, "hey, what do you think of this yoyo?" post. I'm a designer, and the only time I post ideas for new products, or ideas to improve an exisiting product are when I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of producing it myself. I have a handful of designs for products in a few differing markets that I have not, and will not post on any forum. That's what an NDA is for (non-disclosure agreement). You find a couple of experts in the field, make them sign an NDA, then share your idea with only them. Don't post it on the net 'til it's patented, copyrighted, or something... I have a few ideas for a yoyo, been tossing it around in my head (pun intended) for some time. I've got a machinist capable of making a few, but I won't say anything about it until it's ready to sell. At most, I'd contact a couple pro's and have them test some protos for me. BM

You might want to edit this line from your site then Steve "I give my apologies to stores that have shown interest in this yoyo - I promise that the next run will be nothing less than a retail success!" When I read that I thought another run was already in the works. xfredericox I agree with most everyone else, I fail to see the similarities. I dont care for your design either, whats with all the flat rims lately? And then you have flat rims that done even go out to the egde of the yoyo, what purpose does that serve? I can deal with the Projects flat rims and at least the ones on the Pistolero look nice but all I really see is a reduction of the "Catch Zone". Give me a Luchador any day. Now THAT is a yoyo with a "Catch Zone"! And yes, I know only sloppy throws would need that size catch zone but tell that to someone who missed landing on the string during a hectic freestyle?

Thanks for the link!! I am glad I didn't miss out on these! Knowing Steve (which I really don't), these will be above the quality released from most other companies. I love all of my Spyy's, and I had to sell my prized Addict to fund this purchase. I figured it will be easier to find another Addict down the road.
Beautiful work Steve, looking forward to giving one a throw!

Ok so i'm a bit of a troublemaker so i can't let this just go by... Ben, But don't get me wrong, i do not have the intention to accuse steve of something he may or may not have done. Even if he had, he wouldn't say it anyway This was my last post, before you reacted. I clearly say i did not want to accuse him. The latter part has a SMILIE (so it is not te be taken serious). With red cheeks, pointing to the fact that i'm saying something that is a bit unpolite. So don't take this too serious... That being said. I don't know steve personally. I respect his and your work for the yoyo community. But i don't know the guy. So i reserve the right to make inappropriate comments about him. This IS the internet... A joke is allowed i hope... He may be the greatest guy on earth, he may not be (without names, not all yoyo manufacturers, or anyone here for that matter is equally gifted with good morals). So you're right, i didn't mean to be rude or question his integrity. BUT i'm also not a butt-kisser who kneels upon the mere sight of someone like you or steve. You know this is what makes this scene so great. The people at the 'top' don't pretend to be better than the rest of us. So we shouldn't put you on a pedestal ourselves. You need us as much as we need you guys. A lot of (i guess) younger users here tend to forget that. Last i wanted to say, at least you commented respectfully. Thank you for that. You get my respect in return. Bad Bind, Complete opposite story. Although your point (do not post anything online if you don't want it stolen) is correct, you should not make assumptions about me, who i am or what i do. Steve asked a pic so i delivered. That's all there is to it. And yeah i'm proud about my design. BTW i do have the design made in autocad, calculated the weight, i have taken things such as rim weight, etc into account and it has already been programmed into cnc language. So although i'm not pretending to be a professional here, do not judge me based on your own ignorance. All the other people managed to comment more or less with respect towards me, you should do too. As for the similarities. I used the pic on the first page as a reference I DO still think it is similar if you compare these two. (shapewise, holes and engravings not taken into account off course), but i must admit i saw it wrong. As someone stated, the gap of the pistolero is convex, but i saw it concave. The pic is a bit deceiving. I saw some profile shots now and i have no problem saying it is less similar than i originally thought. But i stand by it, on the reference pic, it does look concave and thus i think my mistake is understandable. So all that said. Lighten up everyone, i actually would have been proud if spyy made a yoyo based on my design. Cheers
