Stab it really hard w/ a screw driver always works for me. It bends in but you cant put it back in afterwards, but who does that anyways?

Ok, well, I never used a screwdriver but I usually used a box cutter and pushed each corner in until the shield bent outward so I could pry it off. Never a dropped ball...

the inside has a ball holder and if you damage that your bearing becomes toast and theres a front side to the bearing and the backside. the fornt side usually has a gap you can see into when you put it up in te light. just be careful.

I use a sewing needle. I have yet to destroy one with a needle.
Just pick at the inner race until it bends up. Then take it off.

I don't think you guys understand. This bearing has no C-clips. Its not a normal bearing.

I agree, a needle usually works well for prying those clipless bearing shields off.

funny you say that Gaberus, because one of my small bearings that I ordered was open and the other had red shields on it with no C-clip. As far as I'm concerned I would just clean it thoroughly and keep the shields on.

They are a bit problematic. i honestly haven't tried de-shielding them. I am working on sourcing replacement bearings for those of you with original G&E4s... or wanting a thinner gap is what ever other yo-yo that uses the same bearing.
I'll keep you guys updated.

I picked up a nice 5x11x4 bearing in the RC car department of a local hobby shop. Made my G&E 4 a dream to play. It even has a metal shield w/C-rings so you can pop the shields out easily. and it only cost $1.50...
