Peel the pad off the backing. Notice that it's got adhesive on the back. If it doesn't, you haven't got the backing off yet. I usually stick the edge of the pad on something like an x-acto blade. Then carefully stick it on the response area of the yoyo, being careful to have clearance between the bearing and the inner edge of the pad.

You can't put pads on an O-ring yoyo, there are pad yoyos, and o-ring yoyos.

YoYoJams use o rings instead of pads. You can take the oring out and use a pad instead but the yo will prolly be hella snappy and responsive. Be careful to not crack yourself in the mouth. If you're just beginning, I'd save the pads for another yoyo. What are you throwing and what is it that you want to change ? niiice. lol. well i just wasted some money.  Not a waste. Just a small investment for a future yoyo.
