I had one sunday without realseing it.

It started out as me running around the hallways of me school without knowing why I had to.

A bunch of people were doing it too but i didn't see there faces.

A girl that i reconginse ran past me and then came back with this look of "I had enough of running around".

After running for several hours I go into a hall way. This is the first time I go into a hall way since everytime I get to the entrace I would suddenly be turned around and running somewhere else. This is the point where I take control of my dream.

In the hall way was this large bakery that took up the whole of the hall way. And the Girl was the owner.

I get this urge to wake up and I force my self to wake up into a state of Sleep paralysis.

I can only count on one hand the amount of times I've gone fully lucid although, I have done a lot of personal research into lucid dreaming. I will say watch out of for the hype, the gimmicks, or any other potential spin. The few times I have gone lucid was because of dream recollection and recognition techniques  (like a pad of paper next to your bed, write down dreams the second you wake up even if its 3:AM) my tattoo is my best friend when it comes to recognition, it took me almost 4 years until I found my " dream signal".  which is my Alex Grey tattoo on my right leg... When I dream it looks distorted, it took me a year or two of  dream recollection to realize this. I had to have several dream where I was meeting people like Danny Cary (I showed him my tattoo in a dream because its on a Tool album (he's the drummer) Almost like lightning it dawned on me that my tattoo (in many non-lucid dreams) looks different, BAM! that's it!!!  literally YEARS of trying to go lucid for this little nugget of insight, I'll never forget the epiphany.

Within 6 months I'd say, I had another dream where I was trying to get backstage at a Tool show so I showed my tattoo to the dream character bouncer (who was my old manager at a movie theater I worked at in high school BTW) you know, to prove I was a hardcore fan. I'm all like "OMG you gotta let me in to see the band look, look! I'm a real big fa-" and there it was on my leg, upside down and distorted, my tattoo. I went fully lucid and flew around the stadium looked at the detail on the wall, just in AWE over how f-ing real the dream world is, and how its every bit a good as real life (if not better).

If I was to give advice I'd say try to identify as many triggers as possible, I have only found my tattoo to work for me and that kinda sucks because I feel like I'm stuck waiting for a dream scenario to come around where me showing my tattoo on my leg is relevant. And whats worse is now that I can easily identify my trigger, I get so excited that I'm going lucid my heart rate raises too high to dream and I wake up. Now some people claim that that you're either lucid or not. I beg to differ... to me there are different levels of consciousness within a dream and the above story was my first full blown lucid moment where I was 100% in control. I have had MANY more instances where I'm aware but not really in control, this usually happens when I wake up and fall back asleep right away in the middle of the night.

good luck I hope you enjoy you dreams as much as I do!

Spread the word.

A lucid dream is a dream where you know that you're dreaming. The fun of that is that you can have control of the world around you. You can do literally ANYTHING you want. Flying, walking through walls, ect, ect, ect... Everything looks and feels so freakin' realistic it is mindboggling!
there are many different ways of intentionally inducing lucid dreams, it just takes some practice. And you can definately tell the difference between a regular dream and a lucid, the difference is HUGE! lucids truly are amazing (i've had about 20 so far).

There is some great information on here about how to start. http://www.dreamviews.com/

I have gone lucid through WILD but my most lucid are realizations in the middle of a vivid dream. I have only had three 100% lucid experiences that lasted more than 5 minutes most of my WILD dreams were very sort lived. How long do yours last? It seems them more I go lucid the more excited I get...

"was i chuang-tse dreaming of being a butterfly? or is my whole life as a man no more than a butterfly's dream?"

sometimes i "know" i'm dreaming. other times not. i'm not interested in the dream world, because i can't get a satisfying pizza there.
i don't give any thought to lucid dreaming, but to be be truly lucid for even a moment of waking life - to be aware of (yet not apart from) the truth as it sits right in front of your face... now that's something. the truth is in this waking moment, or else nowhere at all.

I don't think you really understand the concept. You truly have to experience it to understand it. Everything in a lucid, is COMPLTELY realistic feeling compared to real life. If you want pizza, make it appear in your lucid and it will taste as good as it does in real life (people have literally lost weight by getting all there eating done in lucids instead of waking life). I am not exagerating even a tiny bit when I say it is as realistic as real life; every smell, every feeling (pain, falling, ect.), every taste, every sight, every single detail, is as vivid (if not more so) than it is in real life.  And I kinda doubt that you have been lucid before...there is a MASSIVE difference between a normal dream and a lucid. Also many great inventors and artists have gotten there ideas from lucid dreams so they aren't just plain fun but you can also use them for a bunch of other stuff that can help with your real life. btw, lucid dreaming isn't anything new. It has been known about for thousands of years and was scientifically proven about 20 years ago...

You can either have lucid dreams or you can't, it isn't like something someone just sort of says "well, s___ I'm gonna explore my dreams from now on".

Your title is kind of silly, unless you are hinting at using dmt or something like that.

Lucid dreams are neat though, I have them.

I agree with everything you just wrote, I think the key word there was waking. You have to sleep Ed, every day  Smiley Oh and the pizza is great its 24/7 and the waitress is to die for.

You should try it.

right on. but delectable though they are, the pizzas (and the waitresses) i dream about never leave my hunger sated when i wake.

also, i think there's a difference between seeking to be aware even as you sleep and trying to be aware of yourself dreaming. i rather enjoy ceding control for awhile.
i think the only problem with it is that many people who invest in the practice are seeking answers THERE, even as they ignore what transpires in front of them when they go about their day. your no less a part of everything while you're awake than you are when you dream. the waking world is no less an illusion than the world as we dream. in that sense, the practice may be beneficial, but only if you have a hard time swallowing unreality during the daytime.

don't worry mike, i sleep very well.  Smiley

My "dream signal" is remembering to pinch myself, then I know I am dreaming and my mind goes wherever I take it.

Great post, I never really talk about lucid dreaming because not too many people have had success with it, or understand  You are stating what I have always tried to put into words but couldn't.  Thanks!

BTW, my dreams are always of an Indiana Jones nature, swinging over canyons, searching for some archeological artifact or something...I even wear the hat, its kind of silly, but I guess I go for the total action movie star story for my entertainment.  Bouncing REALLY high is always in there too, like 100's of ft into the sky.
