Ok, I won't post those.. I do want to share one of my favorite photos. I like the way the image came out, and the yo-yo is mighty cool.

Great thread Lucca. Wish there were more like this. Educational . . . yet lotsa fun too. hahaha You rule Ed. And yotoy. - I had that last sparkle duncan butterfly when I was a kid ( 45 years ago.) It was pink with silver sparkles. I remember it so clearly. Too " --- " for me when I was 10 ( preferred my clear SOLID plastic Imperial ) but wish I still had it now, as I feel I'm now "man" enuff to handle a pink yoyo. I don't care what people might say !

Ok, the need for a no-jive has been boiling inside me for far too long. The need increases everytime I watch one of your inspiring videos, Ed. Does anyone have one that they would part with?

I have focused almost exclusively on TK yo-yos for about 4 yrs now. Makes it much easier to justify the big $$ hunt.
For all those just now getting into wood and the no-jives (even better with SB1s) there are some tuning tips that may have been lost from the last boom:
1. a wood axle need to be "tuned" prior to use to prolong string life. Take the string off the axle and wrap it around - holding the short end and letting the long end dangle - holding the yo-yo and the long end together - pull, creating friction/tightness of the string around the axle as you pull the string out. Do this about 5 times - holding the string progressively tighter. This helps smooth the axle and burnish the wood - longer string life, longer spin and created a slight groove to center the string.
2. if you really need to focus on spin - get a small stick of beeswax. Open the loop end of a string and run it over the wax a little bit - this impregnates the string with a little wax, which will work its way into the wood axle and increase spin times. Be very judicious with the amount of wax used - the smallest amount goes a LONG way.
3. TK linen discs will add response to a shimmed out no jive - shim the axle a little bit, wax and burnish as above - you will get great spin times and the ability to bring it back. (similar to the No Jive Special that was released around 2001).
4. Get an SB1! Rim-weighted metal and a wood axle = heaven.

thanks for joining! great advice! i set up my no-jives with a linen tk disc (i only shim if i slightly compress/overtighten an axle). dead duncan's also work, but not for as long. i generally don't wax unless i'm trying to break my sleeper record, but it definitely helps spin times.
btw, i'm totally serious about that 6-piece heirloom box. if there's anything i could do to convince you to sell or trade it (without your yo-yo's in it, obviously), PLEASE let me know... or if not let me know so i'll stop harassing you!
good to see you here!
