Benefits of the hex nut in the Project?

YoYoNation's page on the original One Drop Project says:

1. If you strip the hex nut (highly unlikely given that it is steel), you just replace it instead of having a dead yo-yo
2. It allows for perfect axle centering, never has to be tuned and creates a more stable and balanced yo-yo
3. Allows for a wide variety of mods (including the FHZ hubstack kit)
4. Easy to take apart and put back together with no parts "explosion"

I understand 1 and 3. I do not understand 2, mainly because I have no experience with axle centering. How do you center the axle on a Project?

My other question is, what yoyos have a parts explosion when you take them apart? Apart from the bearing falling out and maybe the axle, what else is there to explode? What exploding pieces is the Project missing, and what is a contrasting yoyo with many exploding pieces?

Freehand Zero can have o-ring/shim, spacer, bearing, spacer, o-ring/shim.

pat may have just made that up. I tried to make my projects unsmooth by rotating those nuts and it wouldent work.

1 and 3, sure.. though 1 isn't a big problem, it's a relatively rare occurrence, but sure it happens.

2 - ridiculous on so many levels.

4 - compared to duncan stuff or yoyos with spacers perhaps.. but in most yoyos these days, at least comparable metal ones, you get a bearing and an axle.. nothing different really

Not really related, but it may make the yo-yo cheaper to machine because of the lack of threads. Maybe not though.

machining anything not perfectly circular = far more cost than threading, which takes almost no effort.

Of course, I believe they are made on a mill.. which actually means the hex won't really cost much more.. but still, no difference in price from threading and still more time for the operation.

The Project wont "Explode". There are rubber shims that hold the nuts in place and almost give the axle a YYJ Adjustable Gap feel when screwing it together.

I was also confused about the automatic centering thing, because the axle is glued to one of the hex nuts. Lol, Not much centering needed.
