There seems to have been quite a bit of speculation as to the fiber content of Angel Hair and and Alchemy string. So, to affirm my assertions, I performed burn tests (the standard quick fiber testing method used in the textile industry) on several of my strings. In addition to the Angel Hair and Alchemy strings, strings of known composistion were also tested as a control. Here are the results:
Control Group:
Highlights: 100% polyester fiber (duh)
Purple Brazilian: also 100% polyester fiber
Mystery Strings:
Pink of Unknown Origin (traded for it): 100% polyester
and....drumroll please.....
Alchemy String: 100% polyester --burn test confirmed polyester content and produced no results indicative of presence of nylon or silk (other probable monofilament fibers) the reason for alchemy string's slick feel, heaviness and shine are the result of monofilament instead of staple fibers being used to make the string
Angel Hair: 100% nylon --euw, I hate burning nylon. It drips as it burns and produces a gross rotten celery smell. This is definitely nylon.
And now my kitchen smells like burning nylon. I'm gonna go Febreze it.

Yeah, they were assumed to be rather similar, probably because the guy isn't very good at describing his products. But after using them, they are worlds apart. Angel Hair string is stiff and feels like you're playing with steel cable, while Alchemy string is super flexible and I can easily play with it without a glove. I really like Alchemy string -it's super whippy. However, both lack a desirable amount of "bounce."

I literally SANDED my angel hairs and alchemy's down. they looked like salty dogs and still ripped my finger to shreds. Then i washed them to make them softer. All that happened was i created the King of All Knots. i gave it a little crown for being king. and never used those types of string again.
you know what strings are great? those grey 100% poly's at "another yoyo store". they are all silky and nice to you. they are very thin and very light. only problem is they are hard to see and can get caught by the wind easy. im gonna try the other colors because i like the way they feel. great for mini yoyos that dont have a lot of real estate in the gap.
fun facts.
