I think its a good idea to practice with a mini or micro it makes it so when you use a normal sized yo yo everything becomes much easier

I ordered Kentaros for this Bad boy today when I ordered the new 08888. I have to say, I'm anticipating the mail more now than any other package I've ordered before..... and I'm a mail order junkie!
*EDIT - I'm really getting the hang of this Binding thing now. The only problem I find sometimes is that the sting has a loose loop that flops around and tangles on teh next throw, but I think I'll get better as I go. Word.

Not quite the founder, just one of the three Alchemists - you cannot forget Rob and Eric. An angry wife is what should be avoided when you yo-yo. Mine has learnt to adapt over time and as long as I don't raid all the piggy-banks... It is not the cheapest hobby (depending on what you _need_ to buy), but you do get some more expensive hobbies as well. You will enjoy the 08 888 more now as well since you are getting the hang on the binding thing Jaco

coming back to the original question - responsiveness.
Responsiveness is determined by the amount of friction along the spinning part - increase the friction and you have something that comes back on command, decrease the friction and you need a bind. In a balle-bearing yo-yo this friction is determined by 2 variables:
1. The type of pads 2. The lubrication state of the bearing
In a recessed/flush pad yo-yo such as the CU, the best option would be to add another pad or use a different type of sticker. For tug-responsiveness your sticker preferably needs to be flush or even better, higher than flush. The Kentaros are quite grippy, so adding another one will add a bit of responsiveness, but won't solve the issue entirely. (For even less response a Paul Yath Carbon Fibre or, my favorite, white Flurries, does wonders.)
As I mentioned, another pad will take you somewhere to responsiveness, but probably not all the way there. You still have the bearing to content with. A heavily-lubed bearing is very responsive and a cleaned bearing, very unresponsive. Just add a touch of oil (or YYJ lube) to the bearing - one drop at a time until it is exactly where you want it. This however has one negative effect - the bearing won't spin for as long (more friction), but on the positive side, it will be quieter.
Those are all things to try - and yes, it is a lot of fun playing responsive as well, no matter what some people would say. However, adding the bind to your arsenal is a good step in the right direction. Most/All of the new yo-yos (especially metal ones) are designed to be unresponsive. There is a catch-22 - some people would argue that learbing to bind too early can make you a sloppy player in later life. I would suggest keeping both responsive and unresponsive yo-yos on hand and making sure that you can do your "stuff" on both. Learning new things shoukld be easier on a unsreponsive item, for perfecting it and becomming very smooth responsive yo-yos are always there.

Awesome. I order Kentaros for it, but I don't want it toooooooo responsive so when they get here I'll try it with just one Kentaro at first. It's amazing for string tricks as it is right now as it stands, and I want it to stay that way. I'm finding as long as I throw it hard, I can get through trick like the wormhole and still bind it back. Loving this CU.

yeah i look like MC chris GOT a problem with that
|
About three months or so.
Well, all I can sy is that I can throw it front or side, and it spins super fast, smooth and for a loooooooooooooong time with no vibration or tilt. I don't know what you consider a good throw, but I know I'm happy with it. I've had zero problems with the CU vibrating or tilting so far. I love this Yoyo.
thats also what i think, this yoyo is so nice, spin forever, very good binding with 1 thin dif on each side,no vibration ,easy to throw, very easy to chopstick, pus the fact that you can add hubstack and do killer ripcord start. No negative point fot this yoyo, the weight is perfect i love my cu point.

YOU WISH YOU WERE JAMMIN ON MY FRANK'S SLIDE BVM
|
When i got my CU i had read reviews online and know it would be unresponsive right out of the box. You just have to get used to binding and then it will be the best yoyo ever.
