One person can make a huge difference.
« on: November 13, 2007, 07:39:40 PM »

It's so true.

Spencer, you changed the way so many people look at yoyoing in a matter of under a month. With Debt in knowledge and now this project everyone's style is  changing. If you've noticed a lot of people have been into string rejection things in the last month or so, and I simply belive this was all because of Mr. Berry.

I mean, my style has been extremley influenced by him for the past maybe 6 months, and even more so in the mast month, so spencer you are owed a thank you from everyone who has been influenced by you in the past..... ever.

Thanks and Love,

Andrew

Mhmm, I can agree to that, I'm making some tricks that were inspired by Spencer, mostly from Debt in Knowledge.

not to sound displeasing to your post, but not everyone was influenced by spencer in the past month, I thought it was a good video but it didn't effect me that much.

oh wait..

now I feel stupid as I just read your post again as I type this out and you didn't use the word everyone =/. sorry about that..

for me though I have been more influenced from mark allen of Werd allience, his string rejection just make me go "wtf" xD

Spencer is still one of the gods of 1a,

give me the days of "primus" please. those types of tricks he did were amazing.

No disrepect meant to spencer at all but i wasnt really influenced all that much by debt in knoweldge either... great video, awesome yoyoing, awesome yoyoer but his style is different than mine and i can appreciate that. i think alot of people in the yoyo communitry are influenced by yoyoers that have the same type of style by them or maybe because they wanna yoyo just like them.. I have been leanring to venture out on my own to develop my own style and not be tainted by anyone else's props to spencer berry though for doing what hes doing and bringing the yoyo community closer together

I am glad you are feeling the project guys.

Personally, Mark Allen is a huge inspiration since Nationals for me too.  He kills it.

I am also glad that you guys don't feel like you have to mindlessly follow me just because this is my board.  I want you guys to let me know who is inspiring you, especially if it isn't me.  I am here too show you guys my view of the yoyoing coommunity, but I am interested in yours as well.

Be in touch,

Spencer Berry

All my progression with string rejections started with Jon Martin (Tild). At NC state he asked me if i had any or knew about them and i said no. i saw one of his and was really indifferent until i started doing them myself and realized that it could be an important step forward in 1A concepts. Jon and I met up at worlds again and we each had a decent repertoire of rejections but each with very different styles. recently i've been working on more cohesive movements of string into more workable mounts(staying away from picture tricks). The rest of my 1A style is inspired and helped by Adam Brewster, Mikhail, Mark Montgomery, Yuuki, JD and others.
David Ung is the Truth, He and a few others(Bergy) are the up and comers that are right on our tails or beating us older guys. He asks me for criticism on tricks before he puts them out on a vid and after i wipe up the drool I realize i need to step up my game.

Motivation to yo-yo in general comes a lot from Delaware, and Adam telling me when my tricks suck, watching freestyles of top players wishing my tricks could look that good.Any video on Jake Bullock's youtube page.  Knowing that if i get stopped in the street and someone asks for a trick i can show them something they've never seen in their lives and on top of that leaving them in disbelief of what they've witnessed. Impacting people everyday.

Impacting people everyday.

The impact is where it is at, definitely.

Nothing quite as interesting as having people interested.

I was under the impression that everyone's style is always changing regardless of this project Smiley.
