Simplicity is an interesting, and constantly underrated necessity of the foundation everything complex is built upon.

I'd be surprised if there were not countless tricks based on the Henry roll concept in the coming years.  Henry roll project, to be released October of 2011.

wait.... what?   Not sure i get whats so special about it...

in and of itself there is nothing "special" about it.

untrue! it's special because there are no moves like it. as far as i know, it is unique among tricks simply because nothing else moves the string like that.

i meant more in terms of "obvious flash". it's not special in as much as it does not contain anything particularly difficult, and when i made those tutorials, i really EXPECTED people to say "big freaking deal". it's not a combo. it's a transition move, and most people don't see the value in that very easily.

the fact is, you're right. it is a big freaking deal. and it is special.

if you watched a video of paul or gabe doing a magic drop, would you be impressed? i'd agree that you SHOULD be. however, people can't be expected to be as excited by it as they are with hourglass or what-have-you, because unless the APPLICATIONS of the maneuver are made clear to them.

what i love about the henry roll is its innate 3-D aspect. it's one of the easiest moves that gets you thinking in 3-D terms, AND it drops you from a GT to a modified trapeze super easy. thanks for calling me on my choice of words there, drew. they were not the right ones.

I remember Scott Coyle messing around with a similar idea back in 2001 or so, but he used it more like a pull/drop and less like a roll - more of a foible and less a concept.-

Anyway...awesome, awesome transition.

I'm gonna go learn it. Thanks for the videos. =o)

the other great thing you can do with it is enter as a henry roll (or a normal gt) and then "reject" out of it. kind of an anti-henry rejection.

I like it... it's pretty combo-tastic and was easy enuff to learn.

I'm always amazed when something so simple yet so awesome comes outta no where.  like sliced bread and canned soda.

I've just learnt the basics from those two vid's I quite like the movement. I am having trouble visualising where the trick can go though.

Im not the most creative player unfortunately.

Where can the henry roll be taken? What is the current standard of trick based around this concept?

Also is there any other videos of henry roll/rejection tricks apart from debt in knowledge and the two you tube tutorials?

Thanks for any help guys.

Hey, I can't quite see...

On the Henry Roll, do you roll the string onto the yoyo, or behind it?

Thanks

I have watched it so many times now and I still don't get it. Im not sure the awesome youtube quality helps though.

On another note I have come up with a little henry roll kinda combo thing. Not too great but I like it. Will have to film it and put it up soon.

1. whip into a 1-handed trapeze (clockwise index plastic whip).
2. pull throwhand directly back and REJECT the 1-handed trapeze.
3. direct the rejectafied string to drape over the freehand AND throwhand and move right into a henry roll (land on the string segment closest to your body by coming up from under and behind it).
4. roll that sucka like some maki-zushi.

I do my badly performed Henry Rejections from a throwhand thumb mount.

They're really fun.
